Servicing mileages and components.

Featured Replies

Hello to all.

I became a member in 2013(user name “Newtokamiq”) when my car was still warrantied for servicing. I am out of that contract now so can anyone please help me with where to find servicing intervals etc like we used to find in good old Haynes manuals? I have tried to find it on this forum with no luck 🤷‍♂️

I’d very much appreciate any assistance.

Regards Mark Hilton.

If as your user name implies you have a Kamiq you may wish to post in the Kamiq forum.

All very basic if a TSI. Common sense stuff. Use a search engine and put Briskoda servicing and look in Images and you will see charts. Basically, Fixed or Variable oil changes. so 9,600 miles / 372 days or 24 months / 18,000-20,000 miles. Pollen / Cabin Filter @ 2 years or sooner. Spark Plugs @ 4 years / 40,000 miles. Air Filter @ 60,000 miles / 6 years. CHECK THAT EVERY SERVICE. Brake fluid change is @ 2 years now. It was first at 3 years then each 2. Check tyres regularly. Wiper Blades, Suspension, Brakes etc etc. Cam Belt might now not be til 10 years / 150,000 miles.

Thanks for your advice sussamb - I am not at all competent at using this forum and don’t know how I managed to post to the Karoq forum. I do indeed have a Kamiq.

Thanks to the replies to my erroneously posted query that should have been in the Kamiq forum. Will try to get it right next time!

I'm going to suggest something different.

Service the car annually as a minimum even if you don't do many miles. In fact more so if you don't do many miles.

Make sure the right oil and the right oil filter are used. (They don't have to be "Skoda" but they do need to be OEM meeting OEM specs.)

Active cylinder technology and stop-start place a lot of strain on an engine and if you are not careful it will gum up a lot faster.

I'd also do the air filter more regularly than specified for the above reasons.

Pollen filter, follow manufacturers recommendation unless you live somewhere really dusty.

There is a YouTube channel called The Car Edition, it features real mechanics working on real cars. It's an eye opener and regularly gives the lie to manufacturer service recommendations.
