Trouble with OBD, Ambient Lightning, handle lock and other questions

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm a new Skoda Superb Combi owner and I'm really happy with the car. It's a 2024 TDI 4x4 with 24000 km on it with one owner before. I've bought the car from an official skoda/vw dealership but they didn't tell me that the car was in an accident. I discovered this after I bought the car and setup the MySkoda app and could get the digital certificate. Afterwards the dealership has explained that it was in a crash where it avoided an animal and hit the saftey rails alongside the road.

The following was replaced:

So in the MySkoda app I can see in the "details about the car" tab that it should have some options.

In the cars infotainment it shows me that I should be able to change the ambient lightning but it just doesn't work. The menu option is called ambient lightning and as you can see I should be able to change colors and such but it just doesn't work. It's also weird that there is no option for the dashboard and the doors, but only for the cup holder, bottom and top. is it faulty then? Could the crash/repair have something to do with it?

Also should there be a cover for the key hole on the handle?

Also the seller told me there is no LED Matrix headlights, but when driving I have it. It turns on/off automatically and turn only off where there are cars comming towards me, but light up the surrounding area. It also dims the light when it sees road signs.

Also some pictures of the ODB and under the steering wheel. Should it look like that? Seem like they missed a couple of things during the repair.

Do you have skoda warranty?

If it was me, and I'd been sold a car by a Skoda main dealer without being told that it had been involved in a serious collision and had undergone major repairs, I'd absolutely be rejecting the vehicle and raising a complaint with the local council's Trading Standards department (and probably also getting a solicitor involved). You don't say where you are - but in the UK, if you ask a dealer whether a car has ever sustained any accident damage, they have to declare it. Not doing so (and by the sound of what you say they subsequently told you, the absolutely knew about it) would put them on extremely dodgy ground legally-speaking.

Hello, welcome to the forum.

It does rather sound as if some of your issues are likely to be the result of the crash and subsequent repair.

Did the price you paid for this vehicle reflect the fact that it had been repaired after suffering significant damage?

I don't know what consumer protection you have in Sweden, but I would investigate what your options are regarding rejection of this vehicle.

Yes, it's like that here also. They have to mention if it's been in a crash, which they didn't.

Thank you.

The price didn't reflect it, so I'm currently going through the relevant authorities to get compensated and will be requiring they fix the ODB and keyhole cover. If the authorities favour me, they have to compensate as it will be worth less going forward when I sell the car one day.

The ambient lighting is OK, the cars lacks the LED for the full and only has it for the foot area and in the ceiling.

I apologize if I bundled a lot of issues in the same post..

Not clear in your original post, but was the LH front door replaced - or just repaired?

It was replaced as I've been told.

That may well be the explanation for the ambient lighting not working for that door - although I wouldn't have thought it would affect the RH door - unless that was also damaged in the crash.

When did you purchase this vehicle?

The simplest way to progress this would probably be for the seller to accept the vehicle back with some compensation paid to you for the inconvenience caused by their fraudulent sale.

I've investigated more and the car doesn't have the complete package of ambient lightning. It only has some kind of base version which handles footrest (color and brightness), ceiling (color and brightness) and cupholer/cellphone (brightness). So the car doesn't have the full packade. LED is missing on the dashboard and the right door. Skoda seems to name the same.

Problem is I want to keep the car. After more investigation it's just the keyhole cover and ODB that needs to be fixed. The car runs great otherwise. There are some laws here where I can get a lower price (example: bought for £340k, but has been in crash = lower the price by 5-15%). So that's what I'm going for now + that they fix the 2 problems that are due to repairs.

Regardless of any issues you might be seeing with the ambient lighting package (and that sounds odd - I thought it was an 'all or nothing' kind of thing, not a situation where you could have some elements of it but not others)... if I was in your shoes I would absolutely not be happy that a) I was driving a car which had suffered significant collision damage in the recent past, and b) that car had been sold to me by a dealer who hadn't disclosed the fact to me. Personally, I'd be rejecting the car, looking for a replacement of the same or higher spec/quality at no additional cost.
