Interior light

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I’m kinda new to this site. I recently purchased a 14 plate superb estate green line. And I’ve been searching through old posts with some fixes I’ve already carried out thanks to you.

But there is one issue that’s still driving me crazy despite me searching for a fix.

It’s the interior light from door/central locking activation. Yes I see it’s pretty common.

On mine footwell lights works as they should as does the display on the dash showing a door open. This works everytime.

Lights work when I manually turn them on/off

I hear about wet carpets front passenger footwell or rear but even in this rain my carpets don’t feel wet.

Sometimes my interior light works as it should but often not at all when I open the door.

Sometimes if I very gently touch the switch they come on and may work properly for a little while.

I’ve searched many posts and some are no longer available, some the photos I can’t open or others I don’t think are relevant to my car and I’m non the wiser. Any pointers would be much appreciated but please do bear in mind I’m thick as hell and defo no mechanic.

Many thanks

Assuming the interior lights work correctly in the on position (one click forward from auto) , the issue is almost certainly down to the off/auto/on switch for interior lights in ceiling just above rear view mirror. The contacts in middle auto position wear / burn out. Unfortunately you have to replace the complete module including switches, map reading lights and alarm interior movement sensors. When I looked, was around £200. Have a 2nd hand one from eBay sat waiting to be fitted once I suss out how to remove the old one.

I also have this problem and after further investigation i reached the conclusion its the switch. It was also really hot to the touch and there were burn marks on the pcb. You can try ordering only the switch with the reading lights from aliexpress/temu i thing there was the option to purchase only them.

I had this same issue - switch contacts burned out.

Soldered new wires straight to the PCB, and hid an aftermarket rocker switch in the back of the sunglasses holder. Cost me like $4 NZD 🤣
