2010 fabia tsi bcm issue

Featured Replies

Hello,

I need some advice my mother in law has a 2010 skoda fabia 1.2tsi automatic dsg.

She damaged the door so brought a new one and had it replaced. This is where the issue begun.

It now has no horn, wipers, or indicators. She was told bcm issue so brought new ecu,bcm clocks and ignition and key. All fitted but still the same issue?

Has anyone got any advice please?

I look forward to the replies.

Was the door in question the driver's door? If so, take a close look at the wiring harness from the B pillar to the door to check for broken or shorting cables or plug/socket pairs not making good contact.

Hi mate, Door was the passenger side unfortunately 😕

Try to disconnect the wiring in the replaced door and see if something get back to life, in that case can be a lib-bus shorted wire, the wiring in the door was the one in the new door or did you reuse the original wiring?

Also try to scan-it with a software like vcds to see which error there is

Reused the same wiring harness as the one brought with the door was broken did disconnect with same issue

ok, could be a broken wire while refitting the harness?, or a ground in the b pillar, in order to se that you need to remove te b-pillar trim cover in the car, is very easy just some metal clip tht have to be pulled, i'm currentlly looking at the wiring diagram, the common things are that: they all work via lin-bus and are routed to the bcm, the power come from the fusebox, and that they comunicate via the clockspring; so no power issue from the fusebox easy check whit a multimeter, lin-bus issiue a good look at the door wiring loom and for the clockspring a scan via a software like vcds. also all the plug inside the door are connected propperly? the door handle is quite hard to reach maybe some wire got damaged.

To fully test the door wiring harness use the mutineer in continuity test between all the pin in the various plug

Read that the door has its own module/window motor that comunicates with BCM. If its from an older /newer car then it may not be able to comunicate with BCM. If you have the old one maybe swap it back.

Be careful in switching bmc around because it can loose the pairing between bcm and the remote (append to me) the pairing is easy but software like vcds is needed.

The bcm does have the same part number?

I meant the control unit in the door thats part of window motor. If its from a different car it may not be able to communicate with new BCM. I assume the BCM was coded to match ECU/clocks etc. Reckon a good scan with VCDS is in order. You could spend days trying to locate a fault.

Ah okok got it

We still have the original door in the garage I'm sure they swapped the motor with the door also but I will try the other one. Took the harness out the door can't see any broken cables

Check they coded/cloned the new ECU/BCM and check fuses/relays for wipers/indicators etc. As said get a VCDS full scan done. It may ping something up that explains the fault. Modern cars are a nightmare. I spent about two hours working out why my wipers werent working on a Seat altea and finally discovered they are disabled with bonnet open for some weird reason.

Seems almost like a connector or two is unplugged from the stalks?

Has steering wheel been removed recently?

The steering wheel connector is a one-piece 41-pin plug, so it would be a bigger problem involving the airbag light, no high beam (flash or fixed), etc. I'm not saying that isn't possible, but instead of being unplugged, it could be some broken wires maybe.

(It looks like the picture, it's gray, and it connects behind the stalks)

Steering wheel wasn't touched until last week. Still have high beam and fixed lights. Everything works apart from heaters, wipers, indicators and horn. The heating control unit is electric because its the elegance. I appreciate all the comments and awaiting someone coming out with VCDS to help resolve this issue.

Even the heater? try to look if you have power at this fuse, they are related to the heater; just to understand if there is any power.
