2016 Skoda Yeti 1.2 litre DSG High Mileage | Seats | Cruise Control ?

Featured Replies

I am thinking of buying a 2016 Skoda Yeti 1.2 litre DSG; however, the mileage is around the 125k mark

The service history looks ok, although the seller is saying a service has recently been done, and the cambelt and water pump have been replaced, but he has no receipts for that.

Price is just under £7k

What are your thoughts on the mileage? Is it too high for this engine, or do most Yetis go on for many more miles?

How easy is it to remove the front and rear seats and replace them with a cloth seat? Only reason i ask is i can't stand the smell of the seats in this car.

Also is it easy enough to change the cruise control speed from kph to mph ? When i went on a test drive and test cruise control, it showed kph.

Buy another Yeti. Keep looking.

I assume it's this one here?

Those wheels are a mess and the car hasn't even been cleaned - I can see marks on the rear head restraints. The condition of the front plate also screams a lack of care - both from the owner and the seller. MOT history is interesting too - I wonder who does 20k a year with a 1.2 Yeti!

I'd rather have this.

I've not looked at any examples of Yetis so these are just general remarks that cover all cars for general ownership use.

Careful not to overvalue cosmetics, regular cars are bought for use rather than show and a lot of very shiny cars aren't always the best mechanically (electrics, electronics, etc.). Personally I would sooner see a higher than average mileage than a low or very low annual mileage on car of this age and mileage (2016, 125k-miles averages out at say 12.5k- 14k per year, not that high).

DSG would be my worry, and perhaps if the car had been used for a lot of heavy towing over hills and mountains, does that particular DSG need servicing and if required has the DSG been serviced in a timely manner or ever at all I'd never believe VW's it's a for "life" thing.

The DQ200 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG has no service interval. But at the mileage i hope it has had both oils in the DSG changed. If it has not been overhauled it might well need Clutch Packs. Has it had Spark Plugs changed in the past 40,000 miles, air filter, pollen filter?
