Seat Memory Unit

Featured Replies

Would someone be able to confirm if I need a specific part number for the seat memory unit or will they all work? (Once linked to the car I suspect?). And if someone could pet me know where is the unit located, that too would be great.

Look under your Seat

Want to retrofit memory to passanger seat?

Part number is 5Q0 959 760 I believe but you can stick your head under the seat and read the current one off the label, or scan with vcds/obd11 etc to find info.

Version A cannot be reflashed with updated software. I’m not sure if there is a revision version that would have new software by default but the newest seems to be 5Q0 959 760F

My understanding is it’s a dealer fit as a parameterisation file has to be written for it to the car specifically. It sure if an independent VAG could do it with ODIS?!

I’m interested in the answer as at some point I need to do the same.

You Dont need Skoda

If you have a VAS Dongle, i can to it remote.

as already mentioned above - it's located under the driver's seat.

Nope, I want to get the memory seat working again, specifically for easy entry as that helps a bit with my back. Tried the usuals but no luck so I’m guessing it’s busted.

Unfortunately, I don’t but thanks for the offer. 🙏

Cheers JS 👍🏻

A little tip. When you are running the basic settings program to recalibrate the seat, flip your sun visor all the way open against the windscreen, and lower your headrest. Otherwise you will be searching for a replacement sun visor as I was!

Also, don’t do it sat in the seat!

So, an update. On Tuesday afternoon I was going to change the air quality sensor so, as I always do when changing something, I disconnected the battery. Unfortunately, I ran out of time, so I left the battery disconnected overnight. I replaced the sensor and reconnected the battery in the morning and cleared the normal illuminations on the dash. After about 15 mins of driving, I heard the confirmation “bong” for something and my seat then moved to my saved driving position. No idea if the battery disconnection reset the seat module, especially as it’s probably not a permanent live unit. Still, it’s up-and-running again so that’s a ridiculous sum saved for a new or used module and a contortionist job avoided to replace it!

I wonder if dropping the main power plug out of the module for a day or two would do the same. Assume it would throw up a couple of codes when unplugged but might be a bit of a hard reset for it.

So I won’t be using my car for a couple of days so this is what I’ve done.

Zeroed byte 18&19 to remove the lumbar support error. Got two bongs. Checked that all codes were cleared. No joy with the buttons. Ignition off and removed main plug from the module.

Will leave the car as is and plug it in again Monday and report back!

Worth a try. It was a bit disconcerting, having the seat suddenly move but it saved me pointlessly spending anywhere from £80 to £300 (oh yes; on eBay one CAN spend more for a used part than for new!) for a replacement module so for that I’m very grateful!

It’s not worked since I’ve owned the car but pressing the number 1 button does move the mirrors. So hopefully the previous owner wasn’t 4ft and it suddenly crush me up against the wheel!

The 5WA control units are significantly more stable. They would be worth considering for a possible upgrade.

What coding would this need? Or can you plug in and run adaptation and it works?

Check the electrical circuit diagrams beforehand.

Plugged back in, checked codes and went for a drive.

Nothing. Nada. No change. Looks like memory module definitely needs swapping out. I’ve reinstated lumbar controls and will leave it as is. I’m they let one who drives it so there’s no necessity to reinstate the memory function. Just more that I know it’s something that should work and doesn’t.
