Glovebox light staying on

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me where the switch is for the glovebox illumination on an Octy Mk 1?

The dealer was supposed to have fixed it, but I noticed the tell tale glow in the passenger footwell last night. It's no big problem, but it is annoying.

If i'm not mistaken it is on the right hand side in the frame (where the lid closes on)

It's part of the light unit. If you pop the lense out from inside the glovebox you will see that the switch is on the bottom of it. My glovebox light wasn't working, when I investigated I found that the wires were not plugged into it and when I plugged them in it came on and didnt turn off when I closed the door so I guess it may be a fairly common fault. I fiddled around with the spring and seem to have got it working again but I'll be keeping an eye on it. Looking at the unit I can't see it costing more then a few pounds though so I may replace it if it goes again.

You've obviously got more patience than me. I looked at the spring, decided i couldn't alter it so wrapped tape arround the lug that moves it.

Problem also now solved!!

Thats a good idea actually. If the problem returns I will try that!
