Skoda Kodiak 4 and 2 wheel drive difference in specs?

Update on my Kodiaq listed as a 4x4, but in reality is only a FWD...

So finally I got the Registration Document ( V 5 in the UK? ) and its listed as a JEEP/ESTATE.. no mention of 4x4 anywhere, and true 1x0. So in due course, I contacted the insurance, and informed them that the car was not an 4x4, but they insisted that when they inputted the reg nr. that what came up was it was a 4x4, and it was on that basis that they were insuring it on. So I said OK, fine by me, as long as if I ever have a claim, you wont try to wriggle out of it based on your assessment of it being wrong. So here we are....Car is a delight to drive, handles very well on the road, plenty of power (for my needs at any rate) Even the 6/7 th. seat's are very comfortable, surprisingly so. They are not something that I would pick by choice, but in the Kodiaq, they work.

Thanks again for the help,

Regards, Jim.

Keep all of the correspondence regarding this insurance snafu! - Consider changing insurer next renewal. Heaven alone knows what they will manage to do in the event of a claim!

@Jim Reire Just being nosy, but what shows on the Plate for Towing weights on your car? Can you take a photo please?

Yes, that I will do for sure!! I've enough experience dealing with insurance assessors in the past to know that they will not leave any stone upturned in their efforts to reduce or better still, deny a claim!!

Best Regards, Jim

Hi again Evolution, sorry for the delay in replying to you, but finally got the Kodiaq back from my daughter this afternoon ( if you have daughters yourself, and they borrow something just for a day or two, you will understand) Anyway, there's no such towing weight's limit plate anywhere on the car that I can see! And another member is saying the same thing. What I have discovered is :

2'000 Kg Braked Towing 2.0 tdi 4X4,

2'200 Kg Braked Towing

750 Kg unbraked towing.

But I'm not finished looking yet. And as soon as I have more info, I'll get back to you.

Best Regards, Jim.

@Jim Reire Thanks, But i thought the issue was and is, you do not have a 4x4. So really that can not be taken as accurate for your Kodiaq, but it probably is correct. I know AI says as above........... No plate on the B Pillar? If you are going to tow you really want to find the plate, or get the 'Certificate of Conformity' for your car. For whoever if ever stopped at 'roadside checks' when towing, or for the Insurers.

Odd that you are unable to find the load plate!

The tow weights should also be shown on the Irish version of the V5C document.

Finally, I found the VIN/ Weights plate and yes, it was on the bottom of the "B" pillar, low down, and on an inward curve to the rocker / sill panel, difficult to see at nigh time, and even in good daylight also because half of it is in the shadow of the rear door. Anyway, here it is, and apologies for the delay. Thanks for all your help and Best Regards, Jim.

OK, so you can tow up to 2000kg braked trailer provided your rear axle weight does not exceed 1340kg.

Yes, 500KG or thereabouts would be my normal towing...a Honda 2417 ride on Mower, rarely anything heavier, but its essential that I be able to move it around.

Thanks and Best Regards,

Jim
