Start stop system

Featured Replies

Hi

Ive noticed my start stop system isnt working and car showing high power consumption when i switch the start stop system to on. Doing so even when no air con is on etc.

Display even said engine needed to be running evening though it was!

Im guessing battery is on its way out?

Has someone in the past fitted a "stop start defeat device" ? that tricks the ecu into seeing a lower voltage that inhibits stop start ?

How old is the battery?

@chrisski battery will need coding in , in order for the car to charge it properly. My original battery (AGM) on my TDI was 9years old when it gave up, I have VCDs so swap was easy and battery cost £165 from Halfords for a nice new Yuasa.

Not sure. Havemnt replaced the battery since ive had the car so think its the original. Did take about 10secs to start car after work today.

There is usually a date stamp on the top face of the battery negative terminal, particularly if the battery is original.

Format is WW/YY - so March 2016 would be something like 10/16.
