I currently have a 2024 skoda octavia select 2l diesel car and use it for towing a small horse box but am thinking on moving to a skoda caraq select 2l diesel , I know they are same specs but is the caraq any better for towing considering its a suv ?

I was at a dealership last week and asked the same question (SWMBO has a Welsh Cob) and the answer was no. Well, at least not with the horse in it.

A cob is most certainly a big ask, mine is opposite end of that spectrum, only a mini so maybe ! Just wondering if anyone has experience in general towing with the karaq , good or bad?

Car is OK but at 80kph iy keeps telling me to go into 6th and as soon as I di it has a s*** attack . So its 80 in 5th with constant reminder to go unto 6th or 6th at 90 kph.

Another query along same lines - is a dsg diesel skoda better or worse for towing than a std manual diesel ?

Just turn off the audio ECO advisories and use the gear appropriate for the load you are pulling.

I admit to bias - but I'd suggest the manual would be king - unless you used the DSG in manual mode while towing.

Agreed , just had the caraq for a test drive and it was not really that impressed, apparently its due a face-lift and upgrade which hasn't happened yet , which is disappointing for a new suv. . Kodiaq is impressive but bit pricy , but at least it got its upgrade.
