Octy MK3 1.6 TDI Rear coolant pipe

Hi all,

Bit of advice needed re the rear coolant pipe (I think p/n 04L121065CR on the CXXB engine), the one that exits the pump horizontally not vertically, then snakes up the back of the engine to two rubber hoses.

Reading the service manual, it appears to be a fairly easy job to replace (compared to that of the right rear hose which needs half the car disassembled). Luckily it would appear although both pipes of mine are corroded, only the rear one is currently leaking.

Has anyone undertaken this job and are there any tips? The garage I went to said they may have to drop the subframe to get to both, but the service manual doesn't seem to suggest that just for the rear one.
