I have an 03 Octavia 130bhp tdi, I was towing a boat weighing roughly 1.5 tonnes on sunday, I had covered about 90 miles when I went to accelerate from a roundabout and the power faded, I was then only able to get between 40-50 mph at a push, because I was nearly home I finnished the journey. After unhitching the boat I took the car out for a run and it Performed as normal.

Has anybody come across this problem?

Could it be the power loss just returned as you had switched the ignition off and back on again? Sounds like an overboost fault which cuts the turbo out.

Hi, if it is an overboost fault(which I think it is most likely) do I need to get it sorted or is it something that rectifies itself?

It will get worse.

Id get the fault codes checked but id suspect a sticking turbo.
