Any luck with intermittent limp mode fault?

Featured Replies

Bought June 26, manufactured march 24

Has had 3 episodes of the well documented (I have now found), the intermittent fault which causes limp mode. Still in warranty went to have fault diagnosed, no code so no repair. Only way to get it sorted is to drive in limp mode in traffic or on fast roads to service centre! Leave running there.(Not recorded on car history) .Not an answer! Dangerous!

Anyway just wondering if anyone has succeeded in fixing the problem.

Thank you

Welcome to the forum. Best say what car, what miles, what engine it has. So is it a petrol engine? Has it been serviced yet? EDIT, I see, 1.0 Fabia. So a TSI or is it a MPI? . Best have a different dealership deal with the issue. a very obvious Warranty issue, Spark Plugs, Turbo Accuator, Software issue or what ever. A Mod can move this to the Fabia Mk4 section.

Three questions -

What warning indicators (if any) light up on instrument cluster when this fault happens ?

Do you get any engine misfiring immediately before the fault happens ?

Does the fault only appear when you accelerate hard ?

There is a strong possibility that your warranty provider may not be telling you the truth about there being 'No faults' (DTC codes) recorded - AFAIK, anything that causes the ECU to go into limp mode will flag a DTC - which they should be able read on the equipment they have available.

TSI,s can have misfires that might not log because not enough in a cycle. Back with Mk2 Fabia vRS there could be 'Limp mode' and not logged in the codes. @Sklinda Is it a 1.0 TSI or a MPI?

I sought help from citizens advice and write a letter describing the problems to the overall Company and setting out my rights and what the law requires.

I received a reply saying that they will take the car, leave me with a courtesy car, and give the car a run around and basically sort out the problem....to we will see!!
