Estate vRS 2.0 TSI 245 PS DSG - fluid change or not

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm on the verge of buying the above car (2021 plate) and looking to confirm whether the DSG fluid change needs done.

My extensive conversation with AI has pointed me to this forum and suggests it definitely needs a change at 40k miles, with the car currently sitting on 46k. I asked the dealer about this and was advised that on this particular model, the manufacturer spec is to change at 75k.

This doesn't quite add up with what I've been told through AI but I'm very aware that AI can get it wrong sometimes!

AI tells me:

"DQ381 (0GC) 7-speed wet-clutch DSG transmission. When the salesperson told you the interval is 75,000 miles, they were quoting a legacy rule or a global metric mistranslation"

Could anyone please confirm one way or another so I can confidently challenge this before signing any paperwork?

Thanks so much.

If you listen to your car dealer, you will end up visiting the service center more frequently after the warranty expires—precisely because you followed their advice. The transmission manufacturer specifies an oil change every 60,000 km (or 43,000 miles). A service performed at a shop lacking the proper oil-changing machine is incomplete; if the transmission oil is simply drained, refilling it leaves you with a mix of 75% new oil and 25% old oil containing all the accumulated impurities. Still, even that kind of service is 75% better than doing nothing at all.

@square12464 ? where has the 75,000 miles come from??? Just a salesperson without a clue who never showed you that in writing. The manufacturers Advice, Recommendations, Spec, Schedule is at 80,000 miles on a DQ381. And Dealerships say oil filter at 2nd service. Both things are crazy if you have a car that you own and is a keeper. ** Ask that same Salesperson about a VAQ Diff and when that is due a service. See if they say 30,000 miles / 3 years, or 20,000 / 2 years (Mk4) or if they even know what it is. Brake fluid @ 3 years, or now at 2 years, do they know that is the Manufacturers schedule. Does AI.?
