Anybody happen to have these handsets and use them with email?

I've asked; but in store folks don't know and are surprised....

Anyhow can you connect them to any pop3 service inc secure pop3 ones?

Just wondering you know how it goes every 12 months or so ;)

Cheers

For email, nothing beats a blackberry Colin. They all connect to pop3, but i dont know about secure pop3.

I have the N80 and it's fine with POP3, not tried secure though

I use the W810 on pop3 if that's any help Colin.

Go to the SE website and they have an online configurator for each phone, you could try setting it up for a K800.

Colin, I have the N80, and works fine with POP3 (although not sure about secure).

However, I really dont rate the N80 as a phone. The slider isnt very positive in how it feels. The menu switching is very slow. Little bugs like how the wallpaper reverts to standard every time you turn the phone on really get on my tits. Also, the battery life is SHOCKING. If you dont use any features such as bluetooth or internet you can squeeze 2 days out of it... as long as you dont call anyone on the 2nd day. If you use the features expect to charge it up every night.

I'm really disappointed - shame its too late to reject it.

FOR SALE - Nokia N80... he he.

I have the K800i - Awesome and it connects pop3.

Camera is SUPERB as a bonus ;)

Mate at work has the N80 and doesn't like it either.

Mines getting 2-3 days with reasonably high use of messaging and bluetooth. Wi-Fi kills it though. I generally charge my phone at my desk at work or overnight anyway so it's not being that bad for me, and my wallpaper stays the same when I turn the phone off and on though. Are you on the latest Firmware?

It's not a perfect phone, by any means. But It's a lot better than most people keep saying. After a few bugs when I first got it (most ireoned out now) I'm beginning to prefer it over my old 7610.

Turn your 'Log' down to 1 day if you don't really use it. Has doubled the speed my N80 runs at!

Only downside I think the phone has is the lack of RAM. They should have put the same amount in as the N70 and I'd be well chuffed with the phone as a package.

Log? How do I do that then? And where can I get the latest firmware? Cheers! :)

I would be a lot happier if the wallpaper stayed, menus speeded up and battery life increased...

Menu -> My Own -> Log

Options -> Settings -> Log duration (should be on 30 as default, change it to one day)

This sped my phone up no end. Apparently its the same on most Symbian 60 Nokias. So if you don't use the log then its handy to do for a little extra speed between menus.

Firmware should be updated at an authorised Nokia centre. But you can 'download' bits from the net to do it at home (legality dubious). The links are on my home comp. If you need them I'll try and get them posted tonight.

Type this on the main screen to see your firmware version:

*#0000#

Latest Firmware (I think) is:

V 3.0617.0.6

03-05-2006

RM-92

Apparently Nokia are working on a newer one that fixes some Bluetooth power saving issues as well as other bits and bobs. So hopefully will help the battery too when that's out.

Also, if you have a 3rd party memory card, make sure its a good one. A slow card slows the phone down terribly!

Thanks a million Mort...

Now, back on topic. (Sorry Colin). Feel free to split the thread if necessary.

Indeed, topic.

Regarding secure POP; Looking at the email settings on my N80, it has options for StartTLS, SSL/TLS and unsecure ports and 'APOP secure login'. Little of which means anything to me, but perhaps to you?
