Stereo on the blink

Featured Replies

bah..switch my car on last night and its reports CD error...looks like it has eaten my kate bush cd in the slot ..now it wont play any music at all from the changer or the radio..all the cd's in the changer ejected successfully but it reports no cd in the slot even though there blimmin well is

I wonder if they can rescue my cd I had only just bought the bugger!

any ideas? I suspect they will just reset the whole thing my disconnecting the battery and see if that works, but dont fancy trying it myself..thats what I have a warranty for

failing that I suppose they will have to supply a new head unit?which might be a bonus if the new ones are mp3 compatible

I think Mcgyver had a similiar problem...I could be wrong but I eventually it spat the CD out.

Same problem has been raised on here before. It's not a common problem but a known one so just book it into the dealer. These head units are not repairable by your dealer as far as I know so they will probably just replace the whole thing which may take a while to order in. You may need to push them to refund the cost of your new CD though.

Had the same problem and dealer said that if you provide a receipt they reimburse the cost of the CD, but you might be struggling with your offence against mankind listening to Kate Bush!!

I had a more embarrasing one with the kids xmas CD stuck in mine. Head unit eventually spat it out 2 days later but fault has happened since but not bothered me enough to get it fixed.

it fixed itself wierdly...got in the car saturday and switched it on everything just worked ok...very strange

Maybe because you are playing kate bush is the problem here! I have a problem with mine and my spice girl cd.........

ah I see, an optional taste filter on the stereo?

I have had the exact same thing - 3 days of CD error - booked the car into the dealer to sort it and then low and behold the next morning it just worked!?!

It must be a more common problem than we realise

Happened on my Skoda Stream, just for a couple of hours though. Got into car and nothing, no CD or Radio then after driving it for a while starting and stopping the engine a few times it came back to life.

  • 2 weeks later...

same thing happened here, fixed itself a couple of times. The third time it was still brkoen when I got to the dealer but by the time I parked up and they came to look at it, it started working again

They decided enough was enough though and just ordered in a new one - took 2 days to arrive and has had no problems ever since.
