Water leak - Octy vRS hatch

Featured Replies

I've had my Octy vRS now since the end of September. I love the car to bits. Its now got 5500 miles on it, and going very well. Now the only problem I have is the water leak in the boot. Its a hatchback vRS. The water is coming in on the nearside (passenger) right at the top of the hatch, where the factory loom comes through. I've taken it to the dealer twice now and they haven't fixed it. The main reason for taking it back to the dealer is that its a brand new car. Now I can't be bothered to make the nearly 100 mile round trip.

Now it looks like there maybe some sort of problem with the actual grommet around the factory loom right up by the hinge. Has anyone else encountered this problem ? If so how was it fixed. I have no problem with taking the car apart myself, I might have a look at work tomorrow if I have time.

Anyone suggest anything ????

I remember when Stopan1j got his, he had a leak from where the hinge is attached to the bodywork. in the end the dealer had to reweld the hinge as no amount of mastik would stop the water coming in. Try some silicon sealant around the gromet to see if that helps.

Talking about leaking water i woke this morn after raining all night to find

that water has come in through pass/front door is this common ??

It shouldn't be! I have seen a few posts regarding leaks, but not that many compared to the membership of the forum. Check the door seals - a good technique is to make sure they're dry and run some chalk around them. This should pinpoint where the water is coming in.

I noticed last night the drivers side front pillar was wet around a large area of the ceiling panel. I was pieved off as its not a year old yet. I have checked the drivers door seal and sunroof they all seem fine.

I have had a previous car do the same kind of thing and it was actually the windscreen seal, where the rain has blown up through the top corner while driving. after this was resealed it was fine. I just hope this is the case for my Octavia.

its now 0911 time to ring the dealer and get it booked in under warrenty work. Will this kind of work come under warrenty?

I'd be very surprised if this doesn't get resolved under warranty. Would for me be brick through window time if they don't.
