Jabba Sport

Featured Replies

I'm new to this forum and have been reading about Jabba. I am curios as to find out what they do and how. Is this just a rolling road and remapping? If so did any of you that have had this mod done consider getting the 150Bhp ECU from the Golf PD150 and having that re-mapped? This would allow you to keep the existing ECU and man that if the car needs to go back under warranty it could be replaced?

I am awaiting delivery now (April 04) and am investigating all route in order to get the Bhp and Torque high. Can you tell me what kind of Bhp at the wheels you are getting after it has been jabba'd? Also what sort of acceleration increase you have seen from this modification.

Thanks FabvRS

The PD Golf ECU wont be any use is it would have to be coded with VW Golf security info to get it to work.

Either get a spare Fabia ECU or look into a switchable mapping unit, like AmD One Click or Revo SPS.

The Fabia ECU can be serially remapped so its not required to actually touch the ECU.

Oh happy new year and welcome to the site :)

could a technician from skoda get this info?

Unless they knew someone at VW no.

But anyhow on modern VAG cars the engine ECU is coded to the dash panel for security.

And there isnt any difference between the ECU's anyhow. I believe the PD 130/150 has a few mechanical differences to make the extra power. The ECU code may be slightly different but you wont have the mechanical changes anyhow.

Just stick with a remap. All of the major tuning companies have got over 180 bhp and around 300 lbft torque with remapping on the standard ECU anyhow.

Mine is 182 bhp and 326 lbft torque and goes like hot snot.

hot snot.

:yummy:

So with the remapping then this will give the car alot more acceleration and top end? Has this altered you fuel economy much? Are there any other methods to increase it as well as re-mapping? Could you get over 200Bhp?

Depends how you have it mapped - bear in mind that with a diesel the torque figure is likely to be more important than raw bhp. Jabba can do a stock map as well as a custom, (I can't comment on the others but Ross will know), so you can choose how you want the car to perform. I would imagine that the remap is the greatest bang per buck. Anything after that will get you marginal increases. My advice would be to go for the remap and see if you wanted to pursue more power/torque afterwards.

Economy - depends how you drive it! I have heard that some remapped diesels actually achieve better fuel economy than standard, but with the extra power/torque you are more likely to use it.

Both acceleration and top end have vastly improved (no figures but it certainly feels like it).

As for 200+ BHP you need a different turbo.

Have a search around the site.

PD tuning is big atm and your bound to find something :)

Yup, as Ross says, there's plenty to choose from.

BTW - back to your original question - any remap can be found if they are looking for it - but will not necessarily appear on the normal diagnostic routines that are used for service purposes. However, should they take it for a test drive I'm sure all will be revealed... ;)

Not got a vRS , but Jabba did my TDi PD and I'm really impressed both with the results and there service! If I keep to a steady 60-70mph on the motorway it will do almost 60MPG!!! Ok now for reality I came back from Paignton to Croydon on New Years Eve Night and used the A303 from Exeter which is a mixture of single and dual carriage way and then the M3, M25, M23 and A23. I kept generally to the limits and when I reached home after a non-stop trip of about 3 hours with very little traffic the average speed was just over 60mph and the mpg was just under 50. Now for a car with almost 150bhp this will do me! Go with jabba you will not be disapointed. The power delivery is very smooth and my learners have barely noticed the difference! Oh yeah it was a custom re-map.

Yup, as Ross says, there's plenty to choose from.

I was trying to remain as unbiased as possible ;)

Noted, Ross, and so was I ;):)

Love that couch smiley

Nice colour couch too! :D

fabvrs, remember that if you increase the performance of your car by tuning, you could well end up paying more for insurance - and the younger you are the bigger the insurance loading will be.

And more chance of it going bang.

So by up-rating the ECU there is a greater chance of it going bang? What are the chances of this? I thought that diesel engines were very robust and strong!

There's more chance of the engine going bang than in standard form......Jon's Octy went pop after some 120k miles and then it wasn't directly down to the mods IIRC.

I guess 180bhp for the Furby should be ok but.....the chances of the engine munching itself is increased.

Not heard of any failures on tuning a Furby or a PD diesel fo rthe matter.....guess it's still a fairly new thing to do.

Ross would be a good person to ask about this.

200 bhp from a 130 PD is still well within manufactuers tolerances.

Our PD Golf has had 30,000 miles worth of grief since its been modded (including track days) and sounds just a rattly as it did when it was new :)
