Service prices

Hey

I've just taken my VRS to get it's 40,000 mile service and was quoted

Checking the state of the brakes is an inspection item, I believe, but Skoda recommend that the fluid is changed every 2 years. This does not always coincide with a specific service so is billed separately.

I think they also recommend the coolant is changed at 2 years, but I can't remember on that one....

Booked mine in for next tuesday and one of the lads on here mentioned mine having a brake fludid change as it should be done every 24 months.

Asked the halesowen skoda about it and thay said. its not a service item because its ussually done when the brakes pads are changed and that could be nowhere near the service intervals, so its left till then.

Not sure what they are going to charge me for it, but asked them to do it on top of my 40k variable servive, hopefully will strike a deal as the service is costing £284.

I wonder if that's common practice? Normally if I change the brake pads, I'd just do the pads :D

i'll be honest, with my previous cars, i have never had the brake fluid changed. only ever changed the pads and disks. thought as long as the reseviour was between min and max it was good.

but having it done tuesday now.

When I got my dealer to fit a set of golfturbo's 312 mm brakes, they changed the brake fluid at the same time. So it didn't get done at 40K miles. I was originally quoted £248 for a 40K + 2nd annual inspection service (really 2 services, carried out at the same time).

all i can say is 165 from parkside skoda in bolton, excellent service and over a hundred quid less!!!!

Thats Value

maybe not tesco value though

I think that might be worth the drive next service :thumbup:

When should spark plugs be changed on a Octavia vRS ?

When should spark plugs be changed on a Octavia vRS ?
Wrong forum for this question but every 60,000 km (40,000 miles). They are NGK PFR6Q and cost circa £12 each at dealer prices.

Must opologise, sorry.

Reason i asked is that plug x4 was on my service for next week. wondered if that what it was?

Thanks very much though.

brake fluid should be changed every 2 years , the fluid is hydroscopic(sp?) it absorbs water . this causes corrosion and lowers the boiling point of the fluid , therefore you run the risk of brake fluid boiling (spongy pedal) if you do a quick back lane run or trackday , also have you seen the colour of the fluid after a couple of years , orangy brown .

just called my 3 closest dealers for a 40k mile 2 year service, including brake fluid change....

A = £300

B = £387

C = £422

I know which one I am booking in with, but I`m surprised how much they differ by.... if i`m happy with the cheaper one I`ll give them a good review here on the forum....
