octy turbo vrs series 1

Featured Replies

just got the wife series 1 octy vrs at last . can i fit a dump valve to this car ? she loves the sound of the ****y little starlet turbos that are in abundance over here , also what the heck does vrs stand for ?? thanks to all the skodies out there for all your help.

vrs = victor rally sport.:)

It has one already, but I take it you are after pssshhhtt sounds. The vRS uses a diverter valve, which means that the air gets re-introduced into the airbox, and not dumped to air. There are aftermarket dump valves, but they cost ££££. You are best off investing in a CAI, like Carbonio

thanks lads but does it really stand for victor rally sport ????????

now back to the more important question the dump valve , so will i take it she cant have a ppssssttttt sound from the car ???? what is the carbonio ? is it an induction kit that would give more of an sucking sound as it does its job ???

surely there is another way ???

The standard DV dump air back into the airbox....if you listen carefully enough on the passenger you can hear it.

Replacing with a CAI means that although the air is dump into it...because it's open....you'll hear it more readily.

You'll also get a nice induction roar.

A few CAIs out there...be aware that some have the inlet down quite low and it very wet conditions you could sucks up water and get hydro-lock.....not good.

Impossible Performance sell a DV that would give the sound you're after. However, if you plan to remap the car, an atmospheric DV will bring on the engine managment light.

I put a K&N induction kit on, and noticed that the sound of the air intake and then standard DV was instantly more noticable every time you change gear. Taking the cover off the engine may also help a bit, but won't look great. There are inducion kits for the car on e bay for about £40 and they come with all the bits needed, have seen fitted, may consider getting the kit, binning the filter that comes with it for the K&N.

I forgot about that one....if you go this route make sure you put it on the right way round.
