Can't get DVB TV to work on PC

Featured Replies

I have a Philips LS2400 media center PC which after six months of ownership, I have discovered has a Hauppauge Win TV 88X DVB-T tuner/demod installed somewhere inside. (I know nowt about hardware)

The PC has a coaxial TV In slot on the back for an ariel to be plugged into.

However I can't get the TV to work. Does the presence of the hauppauge thingy mean that I have a DVB tuner in the computer? I have tried scanning for digital services with Media Centre but it comes up with nowt every time.

I have checked the device manager and the Hauppauge thingy is working OK.

I would like to just get the TV showing a signal so I can adjust the ariel to find a decent picture (like I do with the digibox upstairs)

Am I barking up the wrong tree? All answers greatfully received.

Might be worth opening up the PC to see if the digital tuner is actually there. It should say DVB on the card. Beyond that you could check to make sure you have the latest drivers. Failing all that you could remove the card and driver and then re-install them again. There may be some special procedure to follow in media centre but i'm not that familiar with it.

Hauppauge Win TV 88X DVB-T tuner/demod , thats a Nova-T pci. You could try downloading the latest drivers and installing those from the hauppauge uk site. If you are using mediacenter then you need to setup the tv signal first. from the main menu select settings then TV.

But first check the coax and aerial are working and that the signal is good, if its to weak then you wont get anything.
