4Motion rear ARB for 4x4?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if the 4Motion arb partnumber 1J9 511 409 E would fit an Octavia 4x4 estate?

The standard 4x4 arb is partnumber 1J9 511 409 D and all the other 4Motion arb's are 1J0 prefix which I understand from previous threads don't fit because of the spare wheel well.

Maybe the 1J9 E arb is shaped differently? Anybody?

Even if it does fit would it be worthwhile as it is only 1mm (14mm) larger diameter than the standard 4X4 arb?

Can't justify the expense of the Jabba ARB even if they do become available soon.

The 4x4 rear ARB question is on the Octavia page below (not too far down).

It'll be interesting to read replys on this thread too.

i got the prices from VW for the R32 rear bar and its £205 all in but i will be visiting a couple of other suppliers to compare prices over the next week :)

The price for the 1J9 511 409 E rear arb is £42.49 inc VAT. But, will it fit a 4x4?

Nobody have any idea if it will fit??

I believe the answer is no.

The floor pan is different.

1J9 usually means estate IIRC

Doesn't the Golf estate have a different floorplan to the hatchback?

Even if it did fit would it be worth the effort being only 1mm thicker?

floorplan=floorpan.

floorplan=floorpan.

Sorry mate

And do you know I am on my first can of Fosters ;)

Mmm I think for 1mm is it worth it?

Have you looked at the Neuspeed ones?

Have a check on our web site.

If you want any more help , just give me a shout.

The typo was mine, not yours Sarah.

I was thinking that for 1mm it wouldn't really be worth it, just wanted someone elses opinion.

I'm sure there was some mention of thickness of roll bars on here not to long ago, 1mm don't seem alot but it does three times more than you may think. IIRC

Have a search on here for "ARB's".

If I could find out if it would fit I would probably get one fitted along with a suitable front arb.

Neuspeed ones won't fit the 4x4 without modification of the floorpan.

Don't want to have to modify floorpan and prefer to keep to oem parts where possible. Have already swapped my H&R springs for 4motion estate springs (Fed up with all the speedbumps around here & having to crawl over them & still catch the sumpguard).

Was hoping the Golf 4motion estate floorpan was the same as Octavia 4x4 estate.

I dont think ive ever seen a four motion estate, certianly not in the UK anyhow as that was only the V6 which is hatch/saloon.

The Octavia is a unique back end nt using the transverse silencer arangement.

According to the ETOS parts database there are parts listed for a Golf 4motion estate, which I guess was never available in the UK.

We have fitted on to the 4 X 4 Hatch at Awesome.

Just the spare wheel well had a little modification (with a hammer type of mod)

Not alot , but it did go on

That's what I meant and what I believe the OP wanted to avoid. It's much the same if you fit an R32 ARB.

Anybody know of a friendly VW dealer who would take back a special order part if it didn't fit?
