New Fabia locking etc.

Featured Replies

I'm new to this forum and I think I'm going to be grateful it exists! Our family have had VW derived diesels for the last 10 years include a 110bhp tdi Octavia about 3 years ago. My wife has just ordered a new Fabia 100bhp Elegance tdi to replace a Polo. The dealer seems excellent but there has been some confusion over various locking modes as to whether they exist or can be programmed into the car. The various modes were/are all possible on the Polo and on my Passat. I'd be very grateful if someone can tell me about the following:

Auto Locking: When the car reaches 8/10 mph it automatically locks; when you remove the ignition key at the end of a journey the doors unlock. Is this possible on the Fabia?

Remote Locking: can it be altered so that one 'zap' opens all the doors instead of two 'zaps'?

Window Closing: If the locking button on the remote is held down will any windows that are still open, be closed? Similarly if the key is used to lock the car and held in the locking position will the windows close?

Self Locking: If the car is unlocked with the remote but a door not opened within 30 secs. will the car lock itself again?

Lastly, not to do with locking, but the indicators. Will the indicators give 3 flashes if the stalk is just moved into the overtaking position? This was a very useful feature on the Polo.

Sorry about the very long first post; unfortunately I'm sure that I will need more advice in the future!

Welcome to the site... :wavey:

I'm pretty sure the auto locking can be activated by your dealer or a friendly person with a VAG COM :)

The locking can be able to be changed to "one zap" instead of two. My comfort came with this as standard, but the Elegance and RS have to press the unlock button twice. Its just down to the programming.

The convenience feature means you can close the windows/roof by holding the key, turned in the lock, but it doesnt work by holding the remote button down.

The car self locks if you dont open any of the doors within say 30secs.

Hope this helps a bit..

Right.. firstly... welcome to Briskoda :)

Here goes with the questions:

autolocking.. YES, not usually on as standard, but the dealer can activate it, also referred to as anti-hijack features, also ties into the one below, because when you remove the key, only the drivers door unlocks.

remote locking: not sure on this one, but i would presume... YES

Window closing... not a standard feature, but you can get a alientech controller that will allow this (tavia4x4 is the man to ask about them)

self locking... yes, this is a standard feature

Indicators: Fabia doesnt do it as standard, but i presume it can be enabled by dealer/VAGcom.

Hopefully Ross(Clarke) will see this thread and can shed some light on it :)

Hope this helps :)

to be honest colin i didnt know about the one touch -3flash indicators but i will find out.

other programable features include:

2 faze locking

auto lock 10mph

auto unlock when key removed

alarm beep when set unset

some other european settings.

slight idle speed adjust

you can also adjust how long heated rear window, side mirror, interior lamp stop on for.

lots of others just can think of them all at moment.

Isn't that what comes on the new Vectra? It's impossible to turn the indicators off on them!

Rob.

Dont forget the rather handy rear wiper sweep when engaging reverse ;)

Thank you very much for all the replies - lots of info to hit the dealer with!

BTW - Vectras have now been modified because of the over-sensitive indicators. The 3 flash system on the 9n Polo actually works very well and I really miss it when driving other cars.

Thanks again

wots the coding for the rear wipe in reverse. i know it comes standard on vrs but wot about others is it standard.

Another way out feature I've just heard about:

When reverse is selected the air con and/or heating switches to recirculation mode to prevent exhaust fumes being sucked into the car. I don't know whether this is a 'codeable' feature or is standard on the Fabia. Again, it's present on recent VW's.

Mine does it too :bdaysmile

I think rear wiper thing is standard on all Fabias. Never heared about the re-cir mode thing, although come to think of it the car's ventilation does make a different noise when put into reverse :scratchch

My wife collected her new Fabia 100bhp tdi Elegance yesterday. First impressions are excellent. It's a lot nicer to drive than the 75 bhp 9n Polo it replaces, far smoother with much more torque (and it doesn't rattle!) The dealer did all the requested locking etc. mods but couldn't organise the 1 touch 3 flash indicators. They contacted Skoda technical who apparently were not aware of the mod and/or couldn't find the required codes. I still find it odd that this mod is possible on the Polo and not the Fabia - I would have thought that the electronics would be the same. I would be very grateful if any member could shed any more light on this. Thanks.

Can the Octy vRS have autolocking enabled at 10mph too - or is it just the fab? Always liked that feature on the mercs...

Can the Autolocking featured be enabled on the Octy vRS. I asked my dealer they said they had never heard of it. If it is possible does anyone know the VAG-COM codes to programme auto-locking at 10mph, and auto-unlocking when the key is removed please.

Regards

Gary

0/10 for your dealer, Gary. Yes, the vRS can be programmed. The auto lock/unlock codes are on Page 01-71 Self Diagnosis (but sorry I don't know which of the Workshop Manuals that page comes from, though). See also Pages 01-32 and 01-72.

Yeah, on my vRS I have speed lock/key out unlock, single touch driver only opening and auto lock if not entered within 30secs.

Sorry to appear totally thick when it comes to this sort of stuff.. What manual are we talking about, and where can I get it? will the dealer have this? better if anyone knows the codes & i can just tell my dealer those me thinks....!

Gary

Gary, the dealer's official Octavia Workshop Manuals.

Thanks, do you know of a list of codes on-line anywhere too?
