1st quick drive in vRS 170PD

Featured Replies

After a very short drive on wet roads.

Torque > Traction Control.

Great fun though.

I thought that the new 170 TDI engine was no longer PD technology.

Or have I misread something somewhere?

You will have to give a more detailed report ASAP.

Have you driven the petrol VRS, if so, how do they compare??????

It is a PD, new type of injectors however.

There did seem to be a difference in steering 'weighting' - almost feels like TDi has a quicker rack.

But, like I said, it was a very short drive. Probably get chance to have a better run tomorrow.

Yeah as Lummox says. Peizo injectors are a lot quieter.

As for the power steering, I doubt there's any real changes but they have probably changed the power assistance level. It's electric power steering so they can do that. I plan to ask my dealer to lighten up my steering a notch or 2 next time the car is in for service.
