Windows Sticker Removal??

Featured Replies

what's the best way of removing the dealers window sticker from the rear window, is there a good solvent for getting the sticky residue left behind??

Use Acetone. You can get it from the chemist. Works a treat, just melts the sticker away.

But be VERY careful that you don't spill it ;)

you mean nail varnish remover..... i've got some of that!

I use lighter fuel for removing sticky residue left by stickers, rubbing strips etc. Works a treat

I'm not sure if acetone is the same as nail varnish remover or not ... not something I use myself.

Not that I'd admit to in public, anyroads ... ;)

White spirits, everyone has some of that in the shed/garage.

Mine is on the Lines... Would i just keep waxing on and off.. on and off... ? I wouldnt want to damage the 'lines' :D

I'm with the above. Also a hairdryer (NOT a hot air gun).

There was another thread (several actually) on this. One post that stuck out in my mind was to take it back to the dealer and ask them to take it off :) Plus making sure beforehand methinks that they are then responsible for any damage to the glass and elements.

The one on my Octy was applied to the glass, and just peeled back, not actually leaving a sticky mess! :)

And acetone is nail varnish remover, or was back when I was in school.

I took mine off using hairdryer method and then used Mr Muscle Window and Glass and some kitchen roll to take off the residue, came off no problem!

WD40 gets rid of the residue nicely - used it for the Fabia.

When I got the Octy, it was in the middle of the heatwave, so I just left the car in the sun for a bit, and the sticker peeled off no problem! Didn't even have to use WD this time!

I thought that was why you menfolk had a shed at the bottom of the garden, that kind of no-go area where, when we womenfolk bring you a cuppa, we have to avoid the laser beams, trip-wires (get my drift). Don't tell me you haven't a shed to keep your lighter fuel, WD40 and hairdryer in? :shakehead:

Dang! - You beat me to it. :P

I was only wondering this myself as my new-ish Fabia has a whopping one but I was wary of trying to remove it as it covers the heating element.

It's also obviously been in the sun as any attempt to peel it results in only a microscopic amount of the sticker coming off.

i try to avoid going to the garden shed because it makes me feel really guilty because the grass is about 8" long at the moment and i can't be ar$ed to get the old flymow going!

Hairdryer is the best method...just don't do it in the rain

Worked for me:)

 Using the hairdryer to tease the grass into looking like it's been cut. Definitely worth noting methinks.

Mo
