Where is the door open sensor on a 00 W Octavia?

Featured Replies

Hi,

My dad has the above car, a 2000 W plate Octavia pre-facelift. His drivers door doesn't lock off the central locking, the only way he can lock it is to lock all the other doors using the interior door lock switch and then close and lock the drivers door on its own.

I initially narrowed the problem down to a door open sensor (it helped that the interior light stays on!) and I have since connected up VAG-COM to the car and it confirmed there was a fault code generated saying the drivers door was open.

I would therefore like to replace the door open sensor but don't know where it is. My local Skoda dealer were only interested in trying to get me to put the car on their diagnostic computer.

Thanks

P.S. Exact error code off VAG-COM

00953 - Signal: Drivers Door Open

28-10 - Short to B+ - Intermittent

Micro switch in the door catch.

door lock mate, mine has the same sort of problem but always thinks the door is closed. kind of annoying whe you unlock the car and only open the drivers door and forget about it then the stupid thing locks on you

forgot to say, not cheap either for a lock, about £80 - £100 i think.

Isn't it "double duty" on the courtesy light switches?

Many thanks for that everyone.

I'll have a chat with the local dealer and get a new door catch, or see whats available on eBay or scrap yards.

I've turned the interior lights off, that was what alerted me to the door open sensor being faulty.
