So far so good :)

Featured Replies

I've had the vRS (from new)for 2 and a half months. On the most part I'm extremely happy :) I do have a few niggles but it seems that these are common. I've done 3.5k now so am thinking of waiting until the 10k service to sort it.

1 - rattle from gearstick on idle and occasional vibration through stick on full accelaration

2 - rattle from somewhere near glovebox. It sounds like the cover is loose but after some experimentation it appears to be somewhere behind the dash. (really don't want the dash pulled apart just to solve this)

Apart from that it seems fine. I do suffer from "the stutter" on occasion but nothing to annoy me greatly. I find the back end has a tendency to go light when switching lanes at speed or high speed cornering. Would the jabba arb sort this out? If so is fitting easy and does it invalidate warranty in any way?

Oh and hi :)

Welcome! Glad you like it.

Check your oil levels (search a few threads about it on here)

First step would be to check your tyre pressures as the back end shouldn't be going light under acceleration :D ARB will reduce body roll and uprated springs and dampers will reduce roll, and pitch and dive under acceleration and braking. This will make the car much more controllable through cornering :D

As far as warranty, best case is it will only invalidate what is replaced, but worth discussing with your dealer or Skoda UK to clarify :D

Cheers for the info :) Currently making use of the search function :D

Hi Grad, ive had mine for about the same length of time so its interesting to hear your views.

Im very happy with mine apart from a couple of rattles, I didnt nanny it from new and it has used very little oil in the 2600 miles ive done in him. The fuel consumption seems to be improving nicely although I havent dropped below 43mpg with very mixed and spirited driving over a tank.

It still makes me smile on a daily basis so I must be enjoying it.

Well mine is now going in on Monday for a vibration from the glovebox side of the car.... Thought it was something inside the glovebox initially but then having emptied it found it was located behind the dash near the glovebox...

I'll let you know if they fix it

Oh and hi :)

hello and welcome :)

1) mine had the gearlever rattle when new, it had gone though by 10k and never came back :)

2)the pollen filter is behind the glovebox, you may have something stuck in there ;)

3) I'd do the ARB mod if I wasn't scared of skoda ditching my warrenty!

glad to hear the stutter isn't too much of an issue on your car

Hi, an update from me ! :)

The gearstick rattle has now gone.

I spent a Saturday morning trying to locate the exact area causing the vibration. No matter what I just couldn't pin it down. After lunch I had to give someone a lift and during the journey noticed the rattle had dissapeared. After I dropped them off and returned the rattle was back. Worked out it was the passenger side seatbelt socket (next to the handbrake) rattling against the side of the seat. Will mention it when it goes in for service but for now a small bit of rubber wedged inbetween does the trick :) I was convinced it was the glovebox as well!

Done 7k now and pleased with the combination of reasonable performance and economy.

Glad you like it. It might not be the fireball some seem to think it is but it's usable, accessible performance and the rest of the package doesn't drive you mad

I shall bump this old thread to let you know that after 3 years 3 months and 44k miles..... the turbo has blown! (confirmed). Currently awaiting full diagnosis to see what other damage has been caused.

You taking it to skoda/ skoda uk to argue the case for a anew turbo?

May be worth seeing if they will as with that sort of mileage there should be no real reason- Driving style dependent

:+1:

The dealer are doing that for me. I had to pop my service record in this morning for them to investigate the possibilities. We shall see :) On a plus note, great service from Sinclair Skoda.

Picked the car up this evening. New turbo, cleaned intercooler and front exhaust. Seems to be running very smooth indeed. Drove it home which is a 30 mile trip and it seemed as good as ever (although I was nursing it a little :) ). Total cost -
