The DSG story continues...

Featured Replies

The local dealer - Williams Skoda, Bristol, didn't want to know. If I want to drop it in sometime after next Thursday, they'll have a look. I suppose it' a bit unfair to single out one particular dealer as they're all pretty much as useless as each other in my experience. The motor industry is still stuck firmly in the last century when it comes to customer service.:thumbdwn:

So, the question is: Should the Octy II 2.0 Diesel DSG drive like a CVT or not? Mine most certainly doesn't:mad:

Silk, you have my sympathy. You should not feel a change at all most of the time. I know what you mean about the dealers. This is partly the reason I am ditching the car taking quite a hit in the pocket.

It's crazy. All I'm asking for is 10 minutes of their time to take the car round the block. What's so difficult about that?

If you cant persuade them to try your car, maybe see if they have a used one on the forecourt that you can testdrive to see if its the same as yours.

I found another dealer and I took one of the meachanics out in it. He didn't seem to think there was anything wrong but agreed to put it on the computer when I have a spare 1/2 hour next week. Maybe I'm just too fussy, but I like my gear changes to be smooth. He suggested I try another one for comparison, but didn't have one there today.

I have to say this dealer - Clist and Rattle of Flax Bourton - were in a different league when it came to customer service. Guess who I'll be using in the future for all servicing on my 50K a year car.

Hi Silk

My DSG certainly does not drive like a CVT under "my" normal driving conditions.

However, as I have stated on another thread its a different matter if you take it easy, very hard pressed to discern any changes. Sometimes it can get confused and swaps, say from 2nd to 3rd and back to 2nd again in a split second which jolts a little, this happens if I suddenly decide to floor it at the same time the box thinks OK lets try 3rd.

It sounds as though you do have problems as I love the box to bits and after 5000 miles I have got used to its idiosyncracies.

Good luck in your quest.

Taz

Under gentle driving, and foot to the floor driving mine is a smooth as our Jazz CVT. You can wrongfoot it as has been mentioned, but that is the only time heads nod.
