Ride Quality New Octavia

Featured Replies

I also have a mkII vRS on 18's and I find the ride more than acceptable. I find the road noise from the standard Conti's particularily unacceptable but I will hopefully cure that when they go bald. (sooner rather than later at this rate)

The ride on my Elegance is far too hard for what is essentially just a family car. I can understand the vRS being solid, but to sacrifice this much comfort for the much trumpeted "handling" is just unacceptable.

Interesting! Have you taken up your concerns with Skoda?

Just to put this into perspective, I've been lent a Superb as a courtesy car whilst my Octy is being serviced. Its fully loaded, with everything you could possibly think of, but with regards to ride quality:

- its smoother on motorways

- there's a vibration that can be felt through the central arm rest when accelerating at any speed

- on uneven road services its much bumpier than the Octy, almost unbearable.

The car 17s with 225/45s on it, so maybe that is making the difference.

So although its an absolutely awesome car inside, the Octy is a far better drive and much quicker between 70 and 100 with the same 2.0 TDi in it.

Hello johnbull, I too have an Octy 2.0TDi Elegance DSG, except mine

Mine doesn't do anything like that - corners like a sportscar but softer! I think maybe one answer is to try to get a test drive in as many cars that have the same spec as one's own. See if the problem is generic or if it is that yours has a fault.

Perhaps it depends a lot on your driving style. I find I tend to enjoy chucking Willberpog around on the twisties, but sadly he is a little overweight and doesn

That's the problem really - you never get to try all the possible variations to see what you like best - you take a lot on trust.

The only Mk 2 I test drove was the bog standard 2.0FSI estate version of what I ordered and the only thing different when I got it was that I don't recall the demo car having the door rattle. But I might not have noticed it anyway.

The demo's handling, seat comfort, gear change and steering wheel more or less sold me the car [as compared with my Mk. 1 vRS.] I haven't been disappointed except with this bl**dy door seal problem which I hope they get right during my 3 year warranty, 'cos I want new ones!!!
