Who else gets over emotional about cars?

Featured Replies

Traded in my Golf for a Toyota last Monday and found it really sad to see it go. We have had the car for 4.5 years and it took my 1st child home from hospital (unfortunately I had to go to hospital in ambulance with DH following behind in it!) and me in labour with my 2nd child to the hospital (2nd child came home in a Skoda Octavia as pheasant had smashed windscreen of Golf day before birth!).

Anyway just stupidly looked up local car auction site and I think I have found my car on it as details are spookily similar down to mileage (67 miles from when I handed it over), month MOT expires, month 1st registered, colour etc and I am sitting her wishing it goes to a good home. So is this just me or do others of you do this?

It depends on my relationship with the car! If it's been an excellent, reliable and fun car i'll be sorry to see it go. If it's been unreliable, I won't be able to get shot of it soon enough!

The lease company came to pick up my Octy vRS estate yesterday, and I was very sad to see it go. Its been a great 15 months.

Anyway, its onwards and upwards, so I'm attacking Pinky with the T-Cut this afternoon. Should hopefully have some before and after piccies soon.

If I got emotional over every single car I have had i'd be a wreck...lol.

I got emotional about the Toyota Corolla I had. It survived a accident with a BMW X5 , travelled many thousands of miles without missing a beat. Swapped it for a French biscuit tin and regretted it.

There is one car i still wish i never sold. I had a Lotus Super 7, i vertually re built and spent lots of time and money to get her back to her former glory.

I had it for just over a year when while sitting outside a pub a guy said if we knew who owned it and if it was up for sale. I said i owned it and anything is for sale if the price was right.

He made me an offer which i could not refuse, so she went. But i still sit around thinking why did i sell it.

I get very emotional, especially after having had some warranty work done---I now have to return to the Dealers' a THIRD time for my front AND rear seats to be cleaned after Mr Mechanic failed dismally to fit f-----g seat covers on my Fab Vrs

Why the back seat too ? Was he up to something with his mate over lunch?

Emotional or just very angry?

I was very upset to see my furby vrs go, I had a hollow feeling in my gut when I handed over the keys even though I had a shinny new octy vrs waiting on the other side of the dealership. That furby must have touched my soul because ive since part exd two more cars and I didnt feel like that.

I am exactly the same. I had tears in my eyes when I wrote this thread about my old car.

I learned to drive in him, we have been 'together' for the last year and a half.

When I see him I still feel sad and guilty!

Slightly emotional right now over my old Felicia; never really got the chance to say goodbye, take final pics etc, as I had to drive it from Nottm to Wigan on Friday through horrible traffic, not knowing if I'd get to the dealers in time. Deep down, I know I didn't treat it as well as I should have done in it's last year. Yes, she cut out at times, but she only once failed to start in 65k miles (on a misty seafront) and must feel so abandoned, wondering how shallow I must be, leaving her for that "tart" with its 1.6 engine and its alloy wheels....anyone can see its had a facelift.

Mind you, I probably only feel like that because I can't pick up the new one until at least Tuesday, or later, depending on work commitments (insurance issues, as dealt with in another cathartic post).

I should have at least removed a badge to hang up in the toilet (family tradition, to amuse my nephew).

The previous owner of the mongrel was crying her eyes out when I drove it away. :( Was sad to see but I was :D :D :D :D all over on the motorway back to England. As I'm technically never getting rid of the mongrel I would never be sad to see it "go". However I do have that emotional tie now where any damage is shocking   :grumpy: and any close calls on the road are really adrenaline pumping. Guess I just don't want to see it go the same way as furby mk1. :)

Was that because she heard what happened to your last one, or because you told her about your plans for the new one :P:D:rofl::rofl:

I had tears in my eyes when handing back my Renault Megane II. Not from the parting but from hitting my head on the wall for being so f...ing stupid for buying it in the first place!!!

psml!

Chris, I think she just liked it a lot. A LOT! :) And I had no "plans" for it apart from putting the ECU from my wreck in it a.s.a.p. The rest kind of just happened.
