After waiting about a decade for my car to be fixed and hoping to collect it today....

The repairers did a full geometry check and....

The rear axle needs replacing!

aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!

Not a happy bunny!

any idea how long i should expect it will take to get the part and fit?

But at least you can be reasonably sure they're doing a decent job, after all, they could have kept quiet....

As for the time, they reckon a full day to fit, but no idea how long the part wll take. Its coming via local dealership.

No idea if its a UK or Czech sourced part.

Dealer in Kilmarnock got me worried a few months ago when I had uneven wear on my back tyres, told me the axle might be f***ed, my usual dealer however just repositioned it for free ! I don't the the full history of your problem but is it possible they've made a mistake ? Or have you crashed it or something ?

Does having a vRS with 4X4 bring a noticeable improvement to the car?

This is a follow up to a previous question I posed recently. I had a 2008 vRS for over 12 years and really loved it before moving on to something different. Looking to getting back into vRS ownership again and toying with the idea of finding one with the 4x4 drive train. If anyone has been able to compare the two, is there a noticeable improvement in road handling with this variant? Thanks

History is that since the coilovers were done, the front-left top mount has aways creaked on turning; classic top mount sound of juddering movement. I've tried rotating the spring a little in case that's a difference but I need to do try some more just to make sure I haven't forgotten anything. In the meantime, the front right has developed a creak which is different. It's a heavier creaky rubber feel to it which is triggered on minor movement/weight shift. Going over speedbumps obviously makes

I have a 2014 diesel octavia estate 1.6 blk edition. Lately, and since service my mpg is alot lower than normal. I understand my car is old but recently ive noticed im using more fuel. Ive asked my usual mechanic and hes replied with the expected answer i thought hed suggest which is weather, tyres, speed, fuel prices and that mpg is never ro be trusted. Im not taking fuel prices into consideration as im seeing my fuel being used up more. Mpg today has been 34,on a route i normally use and get

Hi all, Recently picked up a 2017 1.0 TSI. Every time I start the car there’s a noticeable ticking/rattling noise that lasts around 45 seconds then stops completely. Happens on every start, not just cold. Car runs perfectly once warm with no issues at all. Has anyone experienced this on the 1.0 TSI EA211 engine?
