new owner of 1.9tdi needs advice

Featured Replies

Just purchased a 1.9tdi which has done 66k miles. Can you give me any advice regarding the sort of problems I need to check out during the next 12 months 'warranty' period.

Has it had the cambelt done at 60k? Only thing I can think of.

Cam belt done, anything else?

ARB bushes can be very noisey if they go as car will knock over the bumps.

On the 110TDI I would recommend changing the air filter every 10k ish miles and ignoring the 40k miles skoda recommend.

Was the water pump and belt tensioner done with the cam belt?

Give it a wellie to cut the turbo in and see if you get any warning lights. If you do there may be the possibility of a sticking turbo, which isn't cheap to replace, but apparantly can be repaired if you are handy with the tools.

Water pump

Bushes

Turbo

Shocks and springs

MAF

Aircon regass

Aircon compressor clutch

Erratic indicator flashing (faulty relay/ hazzard light switch)
