Ordered mine Sat, got it Tues...

Ordered Monday, arrived Tuesday.

Seeing as I’ve been nagged by Andy ;) and I’ve had it installed for a week and done 2250 miles with it, I thought I’d better write a review:

Ordering & Delivery

‘Phoned the number given to me by Andy on the Monday and got a very pleasant American sounding lady. Very efficient. The lock arrived on the Tuesday, which surprised me. Fairly nicely packaged, but a bit disappointing to look at once I’d opened it.

Installation

First job, unusually for me, was to RTFM to see how it all went together. Instructions were a bit strange and didn’t seem to make sense, so I thought I’d just wing it :D With the belt to hand it all became clear and fitting took less than 5 minutes, mainly because I started with the longer screws and then swapped to the shorter ones as I didn’t like the 0.5mm sticking out the bottom. Although it gave a torque setting I just did them up about ½ a turn back from FT ;)

So, my order was taken efficiently, the posty go it here with exceptional speed and the fitting was a doddle so, what’s it like to use?

Use

The thumb wheel is a bit stiff to start with but it loosens off a bit with use. I push the thumbwheel and then pull the belt, plug it in then pull tight. To release it I unclip and then press the thumbwheel to let it retract fully. Simple.

You can fit it as snug as you like and I was surprised at how little belt I actually need to use. I don’t really notice it when I’m doing my commute as there is no additional pressure. That’s a good thing. It brought home to me how much I shuffle when I drive initially but now I’m sitting still. My posture seems to be improved although initially I was sitting in a position which isn’t as comfortable as it was (the slouch had become a habit and my body was used to it). I am now used to it and have no problems with it. So, for everyday commuting use, the device is unobtrusive and makes you sit properly in the seat. What about when you are driving quicker. Well, I feel more part of the car (leather non-sports octy seats are slippery bu99ers) and my lower body doesn’t move around quite as much. I never used to brace myself with the wheel or the footrest so it hasn’t mad a difference in that respect, unlike others were reporting. You can feel more of what the car is doing and you do feel more secure at high speeds round roundabouts and on fast corners.

Would I buy another one? Yes. Would I recommend it to others? Yes.

having read the opinion of someone whos opinion on these matter I respect..... how does it stack up against some decent seats? WOuld it be of any advantage if you had, for example, a 350Z or RX8 ?

How about a try before you buy Phil? More than happy to lend you mine to see how you get on with it and you can judge its usefulness for yourself.

PM me and I'll sort it for you.
