This gadget is definately worth the money guys, I can't recommend it enough. I had play in Andy's car earlier and can't believe how much difference it made. You really are pinned into the seat, I forgot about holding on and enjoyed throwing Andys car about! - Thanks again Andy (I owe you a few pints!)

Right a quick review.

Firstly with regards to the customer service the staff member i spoke to was very friendly. Ordered at 4.30 on Wednesday and it arrived Thursday. It was well packaged, came with a comprehensive installation and instruction leaflet and a stack of window satickers, as well as a hand written thank you note. Now installation. It says five minutes to install. It took me about 10, but that was more due to not fully reading the instructions to start with. Once I understood it was quick to install although a little fiddly due to tension in the seatbelt. That said it is fairly easy to install and shouldnt pose any problems.

In terms of performance I have tried it today and found it very useful. On the motorway it made it very comfortable. While I didn't realise it at the time in a130 mile journey I didn't have to pull my self back up the chair once, something I normally do as I slump slightly while seated. On the way back on back roads it was excellent, stops you sliding from side to side at all which makes the control of the car easier.

So I would say an excellant product which is well worth investing in making driving much more pleasent.

Thirdtimeluck:-

I have one and it rocks

tfboy (xavier) on using it at trax and silverstone (via pm with permission)!

Definately helped, although it was a mad rush to get to the pit lane so I didn't get the chance to really set it up properly.

On the way back though, you can pull the belt back, and tighten the part over your lap and it definately keeps you snuggle in your seat, minimising movement in turns and braking

Been using one for over two years... Wouldn't be without it.

What is a CG lock?

"The CG-Lock clamps to the tongue of your daily driver's existing 3-point, factory installed seat belt. Once installed, pulling up on the shoulder belt tightens the lap belt portion "racing harness tight" - keeping it as tight as you want until you release it.

The shoulder harness remains unrestrained as normal for maximum arm and upper body movement.By providing you with about 80% of the holding power of a full racing harness, the CG-Lock (the "CG" stands for "Center of Gravity") prevents you from sliding in your seat.

The CG-Lock lets you keep your feet and hands light on the pedals and wheel resulting in better control, faster reactions, and less fatigue. Becoming "one with the vehicle" helps you feel the road and the car's "balance", enhancing your driving abilities.

I definatly agree with that bit. It especially gives you a much better feel for the poise and stance of the car and what each tyre is doing underneath you.

Still need to install mine, been too busy :( - will edit this post with info once it's installed and I've had a little run with it :D

To install is not even a 1 spanner job....... Takes about 5mins, 10 if you are a little cack handed! :D If people need advice etc look up cobra cr2 on yell.

Theres a review here

Is this insurance approved? I can imagine companies getting quite twitchy about fiddling with something like a seat belt which could dramatically affect the size of a payout? :D

Chris

Thats the real beauty of it!

IT DOESNT NEED APPROVAL!

This is because the operation of the inertia reel is not affected! Seeing how the lap part is under tension so pretensioners will have little effect, you are SAFER when wearing one! Ive seen crash test data to prove this. Basically becuase you are already in the optimum driving posture and dont have to be pulled back inot the seat by the belt there is less scope for injury due to being pulled into the seat. In the even of a rollover were a standard belt is of little use, with a cg lock you are held in the seat and therefore injury risk is significantly reduced.

Can it be left in such a way that you don't have to press the button to adjust its position for times you don't want to use it ?

Sounds like a neat piece of kit.

Yes you can have it in the active or inactive position. Personally when I dont want people using it I justt take off the small slider on the top and then it just works like normal.
