slightly reduced Performance, now back to normal

Featured Replies

Over the past couple of weeks, although boost still rose to normal levels, the throttle response and general 'urge' of my car felt as if it wasn't up to normal standards. I had thought that it was just the seat-of-the-pants-dyno malfunctioning ;)

Yesterday it seemed better and this morning it's back to its normal fierce best. I've done nothing different. The hesitation was still there, although not as frequent..... :(

I suspect that I possibly had a bad batch of fuel a couple of weeks ago.

could be the cold dense air thats about now!!

k:)

no, it's still warm around here. It's great, like having the car re-mapped again :)

The engine even sounds different (ignition timing back to 98/99 octane advance?) and economy is back up to normal (-economy is usually better in warm weather)

it was cold this morning. 10degC. The car felt even better!

sounds like a dirty MAF to me...

What does? The performance has returned to normal without me cleaning it.

I've sprayed it with electrical contact cleaner in the past. Most recently about 3 months ago.

does spraying it with contact cleaner work? ive read that you should soak it in a bag of contact cleaner or brake cleaner and give it a good shake?

Spraying it liberally, and repeatedly, seemed to make a difference. I 'think' it made the idle more stable, although it has started hunting a bit again recently.
