Netilla SSL VPN Tunnel help

Featured Replies

Help!!!.

I am trying to setup our Netilla access appliance SSL vpn connection. I have managed to get it to work internally, and its fine. but from the outside world its not working. I know why its not working, its because I need to get our ISP (Worldcom) to allow some ports through there router. Worldcom by default block all ports and only allow what you want. So I need to know what ports the Netilla SSL Tunnel client uses. Its no good me looking for blocked packets on the firewall as they are blocked before then. The same goes for lan testing as that bypasses the firewall. Currently ports 80 and 443 are allowed along with a couple more for legacy apps.

You can connect internally , so use a packet sniffer on your laptop to see what ports it's using.

http://www.wireshark.org/ is decent enough

Downloaded, installed it. How does it work, launching it doesnt seem to do anything.

click "capture" - "interfaces" then click capture again for your LAN connection.

Thats now recording , so start your VPN connection , and once thats connected click the stop button in wireshark.

You can now see every packet thats been in and out of your pc during that period. You should be able to see which ones relate to your vpn and the port numbers involved

I cant even get wireshark to run. I double click the icon, the eggtimer wait pointer appears. then it goes away but I am still on the desktop. Have tried rebooting several times, Any other sniffer out there.

We had a trial of netilla a while back... had lots of trouble getting it to play nice with borderware apparently.. and it seemed a bit slow too.. weve got aventail now... tiz very good :)

Can Netilla tell you what protocols/ports their appliances use?

Can Netilla tell you what protocols/ports their appliances use?

Unfortunatly not. I am going to try ethereal, currently downloading.

Well, I have a capture of both the main NIC and virtual one created in ethereal, but I dont really understand what I am looking at.

Help, I'll email both files to anyone able to help.

I'm sure others will respond but I'm happy to look if you want.
