8"x17" alloys

Featured Replies

Seen some nice spangly alloys that I fancy, but they are 8" wide and just wondered if anyone could confirm if they'd be ok on the vRS?

Offset is ET35, so there's about 13mm extra each way on the wheel (the originals are 7" aren't they?)

I've seen fabias with 18" alloys, and I guess some of them are 8" wide, but some seem to stick out a little far for my liking.....I wonder if they were ET35, or something different.

the only troulbe is it will handle really rough with wheels like that one there.

Standard wheels are 6.5" wide iirc.

Offset is dependent on the width of the rim, as it's the distance between the centre of the rim & the hub face.

Have a play on this:-

As stated above, std width is 6.5" & offset is ET37

Lummox, you are THE MAN for searches!!

As for the handling, there seem to be plenty of people fitting 17" wheels. I can understand ruining the handling with 18's (I did this on my Impreza), but I'd have thought 17's weren't too bad.

Don't you mean offset is independant of width? ;) ET35 will be the same on a 1" wide wheel as a 100" wide wheel...

yes it might be ok, but those skinny little tyres make the handling a bit harsh.

Hmmmmmmmm....that gives an extra 24mm sticking out.....too much I think.

I was thinking of 215/40/17 tyres, so we're only talking a 6.25mm difference in sidewall height, but the wheels will have to be 7" or 7.5" (maximum) I reckon.

What are standard Octy vRS wheels? 7"x17" ET37? I do like the looks of them, but TBH fancied something different to other people.

I run 215/40/17 Kumho Ku31's on 7.5X17" alloy's and they fit and look perfect. The sidwalls don't looked stretched and Boy do they Grip......Happy Chappie
