Interested in Skoda Fabia vRS

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I'm in the process of looking for a new car, after my existing Seat Ibiza Cupra has proved to be just too unreliable for me to cope with. The Fabia vRS interests me, for obvious reasons, but I have a few questions...

Obviously at 130bhp standard it's not going to compare to my Ibiza, so I'm looking at getting it chipped. I've heard Revo do this - anyone else? Does the Revo option allow you to use the SPS switches to 'un-chip' it for servicing etc.? Anyone else offer a serial-port programming solution for the Fabia?

I've heard rumours of Xenons, which I'd love, but the Skoda site makes no mention of this. Would I need to import it to get these? If so, what are the downsides? Are Skoda good at honouring the warranty on an import? How are Skoda dealers generally?

If buying from the UK, are the dealers willing to budge on RRP, or do they think they don't need to?

Horsepower doesn't really mean a whole lot when it comes to diesels...

True, but the Cupra was a 1.8 turbo, so I wasn't totally unfamiliar with the concept of bags of torque :D

Currently driving my Mum's Lupo GTI - while it's nearly as fast, 0-60, it feels so dead compared to my Cupra :(

Hence why I'm looking at turbodiesels :cyclops:

Welcome snoopstah,

Aparently you can get a box which plugs in between the ecu and injectors which is removable or so I was told, gives you about 180bhp and 400nm of torque.

You can see what we have ordered on our car by my signature.

The Fabia vRS is a top car and more fun than alot of faster cars.

Strangely enough;

1. You aren't the first person to mention SEAT reliability (or lack thereof) on here.

2. Most seem to be coming with 140+ as standard.

3. Xenons are available, but they seem to be a secret option  IIRC you need to tell the dealer you want them and in some cases tell him the part code for them as not all dealers seem to have access to the full list of options.

4 Re the remap, dunno nothing about tractor tuning, so I'll leave that to the other drinkers from the smelly pump to answer.

BTW, welcome to the site. :D

I've got one of those boxes on my car at the moment, they are good as all they do is interrupt the coding and tell it to increase the fuelling, The amount of power you get is not quite 180, but it is simple to fit and remove (Takes about 5 minutes)

Dont forget that Fabia's really do need thicker anti roll bars as well....

but on the flip side they do seem to be pretty good in a crash,

and the underseal looks lovely and thick so rust should not be a problem..

The handling is fun lift off oversteer is great but a heavy right foot will have you heading for the bank. Maybe a WRC wing would settle the car down?

Overall they are a great little car... though I do prefer the look of the lowered roofline I have seen one of them sport....

P!ss taking b*st*rd !!! You wait til a certain person gets back !! :D

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! That AMD OneClick gizmo looks the business (especially at the forums discount price!), and it's nice to know that I could get Xenons if I can afford them :D. With any luck I'll have a bargaining chip in that I don't have a car to trade in.

What's the handling like? The Ibiza was a bit ropey in that department, tending to kick the back out viciously if you took a damp roundabout too fast (!), so I'm sure it'll be better than that!

I'm sure I've got more questions I'll think of shortly, but thanks everyone so far!

The vRs handle really well, the only downside being the rubbish standard Michelins.
