question about fabia vrs air con system

Featured Replies

i have a fabia 53 reg vrs, got the heating motors replaced a few months ago, the heating and cooling works ok and the air con now works fine. However the inside of the car was very hot today and the book says to cool the car quickly you can use the air recirculation mode for a short time to get quicker cooling. I have never used this mode before but when i switch it on it only stays on for about 30 secs max then switches off.(the air con works fine as its very cold). I dont have it on demist as i know air recirculation doesnt work on demist. So my question is should i get it looked at and what is the problem, my warranty only runs untill the end of November.

What direction is the airflow going in when you hit the recirculation button? I seem to recall the Fabias I've had not allowing recirculation when pointing at just the windscreen.

yeh i know that, it wont work if set to demisting, but should work when set to main blowers. Its the main blowers for your face that its set to, it comes on for anout 30 secs then switches off.

Thats normally an indication of the flap motors being stuck. VAG-COM will tell you if you have access to it.

Thats because when you put it in reverse the re-circ comes on so the exhaust fumes aren't drawn into the cabin. ;)

Thats designed so all your smog doesn't get sucked in when travelling in the direction of the exhaust.

Your 30sec recirc problem sure seems to be a common problem indicating an issue with the flap motor. :) Good luck getting it sorted.

Weird, my recirculation stays on until I turn it off. Had it on by mistake for 30 mins once. It's an 06 plate.

D

It's supposed to stay on. I wondered about the fan getting better in reverse too. Good to know why. :D
