I think I used the wrong oil

Featured Replies

I have a 140PD Octy II in Madrid, After seeing my oil was low I went to but some more, after showing the garage the manual they said they did not know what the codes were, then a Taxi driver tells me to get the following oil, I used about 0.9 litre

Just got the bottle from the car, It is Mobil 1 5W-50 Rally Formula Oil and it says meets ACEA A3/B3/B4: API SJ/SL/SM/CF

Approved MB 229.3 ; Porshe! just seen the Porshe bit, they dont make TDI's should I get an oil flush imediatly, done a a couple of 1000 kms since I did it, I am really worried now

that oil sounds good enough to me!!!! it's better than having no oil....

Thanks TT should I just chill then and not worry ? I have a DSG TDI and i thought this oil might be for a petrol engine and therfore stuff it up. I know, I am a non techie Plonker.

If your car is on variable servicing then using this oil may cause the car to need servicing prematurely as the oil will degrade faster than the longlife oil needed. That said 0.9 Litres in the sump will not be as bad as if it was a full sump.

For reference, I picked up a 1 litre topup from my dealer lastnight for £12.95.

I proberbly wouldnt bother, and just leave the oil in. In the UK, all octavias are supplied on variable (Code QG1) in the book. Not sure on your local market. The only way to find out is the dealer. If you are on fixed you will know in 800kms, as the indicator will come on.
