Replacing the Fabia PAS sensor

:bump: Is it possible to reinstate the pics for this please? I think it would help many people who try to do this task themselves. :)

MSN me the pics if need be. :)

For the obvious reasons I had discussed with you know who to put this up as a guide. I'm just waiting for the pictures.

Thanks for taking the effort to do this, much appreciated.

Absolutely and totally spot on!

Thanks to the techie one for getting me out of the brown stuff with regards to a Mk4 golf OBD port location this evening too. Chap had come all the way from Yeovil to Exeter to be scanned, and I could not find the f***in' thing!

I went rummaging under the heater controls beforehand which made it even more embarrassing, but I went to deep, and didn't look to the "roof" of the area above the ashtray. Know for the future now.

 Is there a common fault with the sensor, and if so what cars are affected and what are the symptoms ? Our Fabia is a 2002 tdi PD so would that be included ? ;)

Hmmm I'm now wondering if this might have anything to do with my current steering issues?

The search should give you a good insight.

I called Savilles in Mustow Green for a price on this item and the parts chap (good bloke, easy going and no BS) knew the part number by heart ... not a good sign!

He reckoned around an hours labour to fit and the part is about £70 + vat.

You can get the part on eBay for around half that.

Look for hootiemcboob

:iagree: One on there now for

And with the money we saved you, you can afford to join Freedom!!

This sensor failure still allows the car to be driven with PAS working on/off ... I approached a local challenging set of downhill bends yesterday at around 80, when I eased it into the first bend (it's a combi, you have to ease it in) the bl**dy thing turned-in F1 style lifting the inside front wheel !

After an involuntary bowel motion and much opposite lock it sorted itself out ... just goes to show what weird tricks this faulty sensor can produce.

Anyway, Hootiemcboob strikes again £42.49 inc postage!

Looking at the part now, does it require a squirt of something to protect it or does it go in dry (ouch!)

Got it fitted now, and the car is again perfect.

Put the car upon ramps and when I got underneath to do the work the car was sitting on my chest ... not comfortable at all !

Local garage fitted it for £35, result ?

Thanks everyone for your help, posting photos etc.
