Veg oil in vrs??

Featured Replies

just been speaking to a mate ( we will call him X) who has pd 130 passat ( remapped) states you can mix veg oil and deisel from pet station is this true??

Thought skoda say pd's wont take kindly to bio fuels???

did a search nout much turned up bar bio diesel from p.station info!

Can you tell me if this is for real??

X states for 10 ltrs of norm he adds 4 ltrs of veg, sounds suspect to me any ideas:confused:

seems more goes on than I am aware of lol

I think Skoda Recommend/allow a 5% veg/diesel mix...........May be wrong though

it is technially possible for a diesel to run on any oil so long as it's filtered properly. but i couldn't really recommend it on a pd engine... besides from this vegetable oil is more expensive to buy than diesel anyway.

On the 1.9 PD I think a 5% blend is permissible, but you'll need to change the fuel filter more frequently. I'm not sure it actually works out any cheaper than buying diesel...... :D

i think BryanD is the expert on Bio fuels

In the handbook for my '07 (56 plate) vrs there is a little 'suppliment' saying not to use any biofuel with the euro IV engine....

Euro 3 yes. They will run fine on anything up to about 40% (Biodiesel which is essentially WVO which is different to new VO and it will burn differently) although SUK only say 5%. You will just have to change your filter every 10-15k

Euro 4 no. It was explained to me why not but I have forgotten.

I have done the last 15000 miles on Bio and aside from the mess it's great stuff. Do a search on Biodiesel there have been several large threads. I pay 88p a litre (which saves me £7 a week, not a huge saving but it adds up as well as the fact I have lower overall emissions) for a 200 litre drum.

Diesel about 95p a litre

Vegetable Oil 36p a litre

Vegetable Oil 36p a litre

Not when you pay the duty on it, although it is cheaper than mineral/

All Skoda diesels (even the new ones with a "no biodiesel" sticker) can run on a blend of 5% biodiesel and 95% mineral diesel. This is the blend that comes out of the diesel pumps in France. 5% biodiesel gives you smoother, quieter running with no impact on performance.

There's a big difference between what will work and what will work and not knacker your engine. Straight vegetable oil is a no-no for modern diesels unless they are extensively modified. Biodiesel (which is basically veg oil minus the glycerine) is OK on diesels fitted to Fabias and Octavias from 2000 to 2006 - in any proportion up to 100% (though I don't know of anyone who has gone further than Decron's 40% bio:60% mineral).

Anything after May 2006, and anything which is Euro IV compliant, can't use more than 5% biodiesel.
