Featured Replies

Hi all

My car immobiliser light keeps on flashing on the dash. I have tryed to bring up the 4 digit code on the odometer but nothing is happening. Can anybody give any advice o r help

Cheers

I take it the car doesnt start?

The immobilizer can only be programmed using diagnostic equipment.

The code will have been supplied with the car new (on the plastic tag) or a dealer will have to get it for you,

Cheers for that.

I have just taken AA cover out, will they be able to reprogram the key & ecu unit.

When I brought the car second hand, it didnt come ith the tag. How long will it take the dealer to get hold of the tag?

You really need to get the fault codes read. Even if the AA had the know how and equipment they would still not be able to program the keys without the 4 digit PIN. The dealer will need to know the vehicle registration number, chassis number and the 14 digit immobiliser serial number, which may be on a sticker on the reverse of the dash panel, but is more commonly read electronically with diagnostic equipment, they usually begin SKZ. The dealer will also need to see proof of identity and entitlement (ownership of the car).

Some early Octavias had a problem whereby the key signal was inadequate, the cure for this was a replacement read coil loom. I have not come across a case of this in a 2001 model year Octavia so this seems unlikely with your car.

Has the key been apart and the transponder lost? is there a build up of dust on the transponder?

Cheers for that advice.

Im not to sure, I havent checked to see if there is any dust in the transponder.

I'll cheak that & see what happenes.

I think the main cause of this is due to my battery going dead 5 times in the space of a month. I have had to recharge it and this happenes with not starting the car just for one day.

When you need your car the most, this has to happen lol, all you can do is laugh in this situation.

Again thanks for the help.
