Fabia VRS seats too narrow

Featured Replies

I've had my Skoda fabia VRS from new for 3 weeks now, but i have 1 big problem, my **** does not fit the seats properly! I,ve done 500 miles and apart from the seats i love it, but if i cant resolve the seat problem then i would seriously consider selling it and getting something bigger. The problem did'nt crop up on the test drive but the side bolsters on the seats are digging-in my thighs. Im 6 feet tall and 14 stone, so im not grossly over weight. Does anybody know of a cure? I was thinking about having it converted to leather at some point, maybe they could take out the metal side bars and possibly widen the drivers seat? Or does anybody know if the seats of the Ocky or another Fabia model will fit, i know they would,nt match, but it would be ok till i could get them all recoverd. If anybody knows of a possible cure, let me know please.

octy seats wont fit , any other fabia ones will , maybe the elegance spec seats will be better as they have less of a side bolster , but then you will miss the extra grip the bolster gives you when you are pressing on , so to speak , i would stick with them , they should flatten out a bit over time

Quite suprised, I'm 6'1" and 17 stone  but don't have any problem, don't suppose this helps you tho sorry.

I find the seats really comfortable. Have you mentioned it to the dealer. Perhaps you have a 'bad' seat??

No. not mentioned it to dealer, but will do so when i let them know about the stutter and the rinckly back seats.

Can you make the Whitby Meet on the 1st Oct?

woohoo it wasn't just me then!...this is the very reason that I got rid of my VRS...the seat bases are very narrow and the bolsters are oddly shaped (normal person 6ft, 13stone) and very much lacking in the lower lumbar area...would have put the Octy VRS seats in it but as has previously been mentioned they won't fit so I had to end my brief love affair with Skoda a few months back:(

...still miss the addictive blend of economy and torque:(

yeh:eek: 6'3 and 17stone typical rugby player build and find them really comfy.

i'd try a seat in the passenger side to see if you;ve got the same problem (the blosters chould be the same) the sub frame might have had a knock pushing in the blosters

I thought the seats were ok until I decided to notch the back seat more vertical to get a near perfect posture and wow what a difference. I have way more lumbar support and the sides and top of the seat hugs my body so much more than they did before. Now I feel "at one" with the car.

You really have to have a fiddle with the seats. when I altered mine it felt odd for a minute or two but after that it felt right and they are perfect in every way now.

so give them a chance to get used to. I remember on my test drive thinkinh that the seats should be comfy but they weren't as comfy as my clio's were. now I altered them a bit they are now as comfy if not more comfy and supporting than the clio ones.

I'm also a big 'un but find the vRS seats really comfortable. I had a MkII Golf GTi as a company car many years ago and the seats in that were just not made for my kinda frame (and I was slimmer then!), really buttock clenchingly ****-poor, but the Fabia seats in my opinion are OK. Maybe you should check out the seats in another vRS to satisfy yourself that yours are alright.

they flatten out a lot over time. when i get in the passenger seat now it feels odd because the it's still tight compared with the drivers.

I found the seats in my Z very tight across my back when I first got it, the dealer said they'd ease up.

They havent' :( - still very tight and on a long journey they can be quite uncomfortable, so I know how you feel (I'm 12 stone but have a broad back)

I found the seats too narrow at first,im 6ft3 and 18 stone, they tend to give a little after a while,to the extent that i could do 1600 miles to Spain in 28 hours with no discomfort.I say give the seats a few more weeks, see how you get on.

I'm 6'0", and 12 stone 10, and I find no problem with the seats, even after driving for several hundred miles in one day.

THIS IS ALL GOOD NEWS; I'm 6'3" and 16+a bit stone (ex-rugby as well) with a dodgey back. I have a Recaro 'Style' seat that I took out of my last car and fitted to my Fabia Comfort, to give me more support; its quite a large seat and does fit OK.

I am though looking to buy a VRS and have test driven briefly but reckoned that with my size and need for good support, especially in the lumbar area, I would have to transfer my Recaro again; BUT it seems from all the comments in this thread that the standard VRS seat will be fine for me.

On the other hand; Recaro seats are probably the BEST, if pricey, and to get a new pair in matching upholstry could be good.

I love my Vrs but I am getting a little fed up with having a bad back. I have leather which is quite hard but my back seems to be in constant contact with the bar in the lower lumbar region.

As a result of this I am looking at a BMW 1 series or a Octavia Vrs.

Looked at a BMW 1 series. I will not be persuing this car anymore. Totally unacceptable space refinement and price. I was quoted

You must have one hell of an A$$ if you don't fit in the seats properly. The sport seats for the Fabia are pretty darn-well amazingly done.

:D
