Brake Fluid

Featured Replies

Hiya guys, can someone cofirm or unconfirm, that the brake fluid change every two years is nessisary, or is this just another dealer money making scam, i have my car going in shortly and was advised it needs doing every two years, so ive done a little reading and not got any decisive info on what to do, so i hope someone could shed a bit of light on the subject for me to help me make a decision on whether to get it done or not, or to have a go at doing it myself, thanks in advance for any advice. (53 fabia sdi)

I personally wouldn't mess around with brakes and if they recommend every 2 years, I'd do it every 2 years ;) It's only something like

cheers for replying m8:thumbup:

Brake fluid attracts moisture as it isnt a sealed system as such.

Moisture boils inside the fluid creating gas pockets which compress giving you excessive pedl travel and poor brakes.

Yes, get it done, you should notice a difference. I did when the fluid on my CTR was changed after 3 years (3years as reccomended by Honda)

Do it yourself

Cost about £10

you may not have a lot of warranty left but if you had a brake problem and you hadn't had the fluid changed at the specific time as per skoda recommended schedules , they could say the faulty brake part is not covered because the vehicle hasn't been serviced to their spec , so i think you should get it changed for he peace of mind it will give you

I paid £40 on top of a service at a skoda dealer as it hadn't been done in 2 and a half years.

A fellow briskodian pointed it out to me as i didnt know. thank you.
