Impreza STI

Featured Replies

There a video clip I saw (think it was on Scoobynet) of a berk showing how fast his STi was from a standing start. He managed it 4 or 5 times before the car stopped moving and a large trickle of transmission oil appeared underneath :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Yeah, seen that too. The guy was a nutter, redline starts. No need for such abuse. My launch control is set to 5000rpm.

Vid of some 6K clutch dumps in an STi and a vid of the result - NASIOC

Mine was enjoyed (thrashed) every day, returned mid to high 20's mpg and had as hard a life as al my cars. Serviced on the dot by a reputable specialist and never skipped a beat :D I'd have another one tomorrow

Chris

I'd have another one tomorrow :rofl:Chris

They are quite cheap now :D :D

Mine was an Import which might have explained some of the unreliability

don't/didn't subaru offer weekend testdrives? if they were that fragile none of them would have made it back to the dealer under their own steam..

Diddnt include the "hot" models though. Impreza Sport anyone ?

really?? what's the point in that???

mumphie are you really that dense? 2 high power cars with the same power and torque output but one has 4WD and the other is FWD, the 4WD will always pull away quicker from the line if both are driven to their maximum.

i know what you are saying about the FWD cars having less losses etc but a FWD car like an octavia simply can't launch like its 4WD equivelent as proved by phil videos, and about breaking 4WD's it isn't that easy. i have launched my car many many times be it rain, snow or a hot dry day and it still works. yes a bearing failed in the gearbox and the clutch went a wyear or two ago but that was when it was standard power wise and didn't get launched. the car now has in the region of 50% more power than standard and a tougher clutch, it gets launched every now and again and doesn't feel any worse for it.

A FWD standard car like the octavia simply cannot put 200bhp through the front wheels from a standstill without wheel spinning, its 4WD brother can and does easily and as a result pulls away quicker. I simply cannot understand how you can argue this as its simple physics. newtons lay is al well and good but there are so many other variables and calculations to take into count on this.
