Felicia 1.3 - odd rattle

Featured Replies

Hi,

I had an odd problem with my Felicia today ... when I started the engine there was a pretty loud clattering/rattle noise that sounded like it was from the back of the car - like something was dragging except we hadn't moved off yet!

Nothing is dragging under the car - the part that's confusing me - it mostly went away when the revs got over ~2000, and whenever either of the guys on the passenger side of the car got out, it stopped...!

I've had four people in the car before, but this is the first time I've had four 6'+ guys with luggage in it, so it probably is the heaviest load it's ever been under - if that's the reason I guess it wouldn't have happened before.

Once I'd got rid of my passengers it drove perfectly normally - the car's a V reg 1.3, ~58K mileage. Had a new exhaust pipe/silencer/catalytic convertor fitted this year, don't know of any other work that's been done on it (been serviced regularly though).

Anybody have any ideas/suggestions to what it might be? Thanks!

it might be the new exhaust. new ones never fit proper.

it sounds like the exhaust to me as well , i would want it checking to see if its been fitted ok , i have had a new one fitted on my felicia this year and no problem .

Probably hitting on the rear axle.

that's good.... in a 2.0 fabia you can go over a speed bump at a snails pace and stick wack the sump.

Mine did that when i looked the rear box had come offits rubber could not notice till I pushed the pipe with my foot.

Hope that helps
