Misfire on low throttle

Featured Replies

Hi I'm new to this forum so please fogive me if I don't get things right.I have a OCTAVIA 1.8 SLXI 20v 1999 which as been great till the other week when a engine misfire started when the acc/pedal is pressed about a quarter say when starting off or slow moving in traffic flow at first it was slight but its getting worse. If you give it more throttle it all seems fine and the car performs like its always done with good fuel and performance.I have had the petrol filter, plugs and injector cleaner added but this as not helped. Is there any one out there who could advise on what could be the problem?I know it must be to do so and I hope I have given enough info.

Regards,

Vic

Hi Vic, I think it sounds similar to a problem I had, the local dealer diagnosed throttle air hose. Replaced it + intake temp sensor.

However, when I had Jabbasport remap done the next day they found a faulty dump valve.

Car now runs smoothly at all speeds, and goes like the wind.

Hope this is of help,

Foz

Thanks for the info which might solve the problem. If you don't mind asking what is the cost involved if this turns out to be the same trouble which you had?

vic

might be a lazy ignition coil giving you the trouble

If its the turbo then this problem is wide spread through all vag makes with no real known 100% cure. some poeple are lucky and get it with new n75 valve of temp sensor but most like me have to live with it.

Let us know if you cure it cheers

No it does not have a turbo I forgot to say on my first posting. This is the first time I've used the forum and I would like to thank everyone for getting back to me and for being so friendly. We don't have a Skoda dealer in my town the nearest is Silks in Maccelsfield but I would not take a wheelborrow for them to sort out as I had big dealings with them for bad work on my Vauxhall so i'm trying to find enough info about what the problem could be myself

Any fault codes?

Try cleaning the throttle body.
