Squeaking from front

Featured Replies

Hoping that someone may enlighten me. Took car to the stealers yesterday due to squeaking from from brakes- noise can be heard especially when turing to the left, yet stops when brakes are applied. They put it down to brake dust, said they cleaned it away- job done. Driven car this morning and problem has returned. I know it could be several things and needs to go back, but is it a common fault with anyone else?

Not had this problem myself, but I do know it can be a symptom if a wheel bearing has died. If it's only just on it's way out it the noise can stop occur especially on corners. Could also be a partly worn pad rubbing the disc, could be a bent track-rod end (or a right-hand track rod end on the left-had track rod, it does happen).

Could also me a million different things too though, up to and including a small mouse having made it's home on top of the left CV boot. Well, you never know.

probably just the pad rubbing on the edge of the disc ,obviously it goes when the brakes are pressed, mine does it occasionally , nothing to worry about IMHO , but get the dealer to check it out if you're not sure

Thanks. More concerned if it wears brakes quicker. They seemed so confident of a fix yesterday. Oh well, a trip back to dealers. Its a better service than when I had the A3 though- at least they don't talk down to you. Had a good look round the Roomster whilst there yesterday and I am impressed. Much nicer actually in profile rather than in pics, and seems very well made.

The bloody squeak has returned again. Phoned dealer who claims that it is fairly common on Fabia Vrs- a ridged area is created on the brake pads which makes the noise. Is this a common thing....??? Apparantely the only way to solve it is to use different brake pads. I have my doubts...
