Creaky Clutch

Featured Replies

This is starting to bug me, especially as i'm mostly stuck in traffic. It's not the pedal, it's the whole clutch when pressed, it's creeking of something, or rubbing of something. Has anybody come across this before? If so, did you fix it?/how?

I'm going to ring the dealer's in the morning to be fixed if i cannot find an alternative solution.

Thanks ..

how do you mean the whole clutch?

Mine too:mad: Its really starting to annoy me now!!! Its not a clicking noise, just a creaking noise:confused:

I'm not sure how to explain. But, where the pedal's are. All of what you can see. There is something creaking, it's not any further than when your feet are. So it's nothing big... Even a slight bump, can make it creak.

End cap of the dash. I'll try it now...

Mine does it too, when you are in a queue of traffic it creaks when you first push on the pedal and again when you release it. Similar to the above post it also creaks when going over a very bumpy road (and my foots nowhere near the pedal). My first lubrication service is due in about four weeks, I'll get it sorted then.

All the best

Ok, I got to the car, and thought, what the /// is the end cap. On the bottom left side, there's two screws just before the pedals. I've tightened them, and the screaking got worse. I loostened the two screws by a mm or so (dash screws) and ... No more creaks.

Thank you mate!

Well not quite what I meant but glad you got it sorted.

I tend not to tweek my nuts before 9pm but sounds like a good idea.. :D

This was at about 9:30, So i guess we were ok...

Snoopie, could you take a photo by any chance of your nuts (:D ) and post it so I can see if tweeking my nuts will stop any creaking?

So.... Be patient..:orb_love_

WD40 sorted my clicking and squeeking clutch and brake pedal.

Whereabouts did you spray the WD40? Into what part?

has that problem with my clutch pedal about 4 months after buying car. dealer changed some sort of part on top of the pedal which solved the noise. dealer knew what problem was without looking at it so must be sort of common

I got on the floor, by the pedals got the wd40 with the long nozel on and just gave it a big blast of wd40 for about 5 seconds on each of the pivot joints were the pedals were fixed to the mountings. pumped both my pedal for a bit, then reapplied wd40. it just faded away pressing the pedals each time, till it was gone.

Oh and put newspaper down on the floor.

Funnily enough, I spoke to my dealer earlier, and they've never heard of anything. They've never heard of stuttering on 06 car's either etc. Most of the problems found on here, seem to be recognised by every other dealer bar mine.

Going to drive it tomorrow and see if loosening those screw's has done anything. It solved it there and then, but for a long term effect maybe WD40 is the way to go.

Hi Ross

Do you mean the two bolts facing forward just under where the A pillar meets the firewall? They are already FT.

Chris

My clutch is creaking and after a close look tonight it seems like a spring or kind of piston behind the clutch that is creaking. I can see how it can be anything else. please help.

so which nuts are they that you untighten Lummox? can you explain using the pictures I have posted?

Try my method in the mean time. Two screws on the bottom left of the dash. (where the clutch pedal is, look up at the dash, you'll see two screws) I lostened them and all creaking stopped.

no because the nuts arent there.

Take the lower trim off and remove the clutch switch, see if the noise stops.

my superb did this. really theatrical CREEEEAAAAAK on the clutch. turned out to be the top of the driver's side floor mat rubbing against the pedal, of all things. i could have sworn it was mechanical...!

my fabia vrs did this - the garage lubed it first which made no difference and then replaced the clutch master cylinder which fixed the problem for good.

Lummox, i have the same creak. Is it the end cap on the dash that has fuses beneath ?
